i know it's on me for giving a fuck but i think its crazy that so many ppl see a seventeen yr old abuse victim who's life is crumbling around them and who is lashing out and fucking spiralling and be like. fuck that kid he's a piece of shit i'm glad he dies etc. just to turn around and be like. In Love with the other messed up and flawed characters when most of their messiness comes from Superpower Drama and Government Conspiracy Shit and Inter-Dimensional Monster Problems cos it's like. bro they're not even real. like that shit's never gonna be a real problem for u. you'll meet probably a dozen billy's in your lifetime, you'll probably interact with hundreds of max's, but you're never gonna meet an el, and steve's never gonna save you from a demobat or whatever. like yeah sure i love the power of friendship as much as the next guy but the way so many of u hold so much compassion for the characters who aren't dealing with (only) real shit and are ready to burn the one who's problems hit too close to home is insane

Aside from your example that sucks big time, btw, there are ways to investigate suspicious artwork and there are pages where you can check the art you find suspicious and they can tell you very detailed why a piece seems human made or not. It is not always correct so use with caution but it might give you a direction at least. If art is suspicious and detected as AI you can check if the artist in question posts sketches, recordings, wips,... Every artist should be able to easily show you proof of the work not being made by AI and if I was an artist in question, I'd rather have someone ask me for proof than thinking of me as suspicious and I am sure most honest artists would agree. It sucks that we even have to be suspicious these days but sometimes, signs are there and investigating is not too difficult.

These pages you're talking about? AI checkers? Are AI too, and by checking someone's art you're feeding it to AI. They're also far from reliable, so I don't recommend using them.

No, sorry, Nonny, I think that's a slippery slope you're going down. One that leads to witch hunting and people - real people! - getting hurt.

If you're suspicious, just wrinkle your nose and scroll on. Maybe block the person in question. Rant to your friends about it if you have to. But don't start going after people. It's not cute. You're not on the higher ground, even if you might think you are.

And there could be consequences you might not be able to repair.

Just wanted to add my two cents to that ai art post you made: if someone warns you that the art you reblogged is ai, you might want to consider investigating it?? Instead of ignoring it and just going “well I like it soooooo.” Like if a very sus blog with zero intro or personality starts posting a bunch of “art” all at once with no tags or anything that suggests that this is someone who spent hours making said art then it’s highly likely that art is either stolen or it’s ai slop. I mean sometimes I know it’s not obvious but sometimes it really really is and some people choose to ignore it while still claiming to be “anti ai” 🙄

So, here's the thing: No matter how "suspiciously AI" art might look, there's no way to prove it if the OP doesn't tag it as AI art. So what am I gonna do when I see something in the tag that I think might be "AI art"? I'm gonna scroll past it and possibly block the OP.

Because, really, going after artists - no matter if it's visual art or writing - and claiming their creations are AI hurts more than the occasional AI in the tag imo.

The AI images I was talking about are fanart fed to AI in a prompt to make a photorealistic version of it.

Those are obvious. The people hurt are the original artists.

It's probably easier to get perfect likenesses by using art, but it's so fucking disrespectful. I understand the wish to see more of your favorite ship, but seriously. Not like this. Find other ways. Be creative. Engage in fandom.

Doing this is a surefire way to make artists not want to share their art with us anymore.
