I recently picked up my small beautynetkorea haul from the post office. Late last year, beautynetkorea had a sale on my favorite hydrating gelâs brand, Skin Watchers. Beautynetkorea is literally the only website I can find with reasonable Skin Watchers prices that can mail to me, so I grabbed the chance to stock up since i was already running out of the small tub I had.
I already reviewed this product last year, but I discovered that not only it was repackaged (now comes in a more convenient tube), it was also reformulated. It smelled different when I opened one tube and it had better effects on me, so I emailed the Skin Watchers customer service to confirm.
Yoon (from Skin Watchers customer service) replied almost immediately and confirmed the reformulation so here I am with a comparison review.

So for one thing, their main keyword for this product is bouncy.Â

Comes in a plastic, glass-like tub. Has an inner lid but no spatula included.

For my purposes, I love the tube since it fits nicely in my skincare bag now. I had to decant the tub version into a smaller tub so I could carry it around.

First off, what I immediately noticed and what Yoon stressed in the email, was that the new formulation has removed the artificial fragrance from the old formula and instead uses bergamot fruit oil plus the intrinsic odors of the other ingredients as its scent. This is a welcome change for me, I thought the old formulaâs scent was a bit too strong for my liking.
The first six ingredients have stayed the same: water, dipropylene glycol (solvent), glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, snail secretion filtrate, and niacinamide. What follows are the herbal ingredients:
OLD â celery extract, cabbage leaf extract, rice extract, tomato fruit/leaf/ stem extract, turnip leaf extract, carrot root extract, broccoli extract, Japanese/Korean pepper fruit extract, Korean pasque flower extract, lichen extract

Looking at the comparison, even it has a longer ingredient list, based on the couple of weeks I have been using the new formulation, my skin prefers it.
My face seems brighter overall, and I have been having less breakouts. I feel like it had something to do with the fragrance. The new formulation also is more effective at hydrating my cheeks and holding the moisture in.
When I ran out of the old formulation late last year, I had to resort to alternating rosehip seed oil and sunflower oil to keep my face moisturized. The two oils did okay. I had to be wary to only apply a thin layer otherwise I would be breaking out, but this meant that my cheeks didnât get enough moisture.
Itâs colder and drier right now but I no longer have a problem with the tightness and dehydration thanks to the new formulation. As the old review, my face feels better (bouncier even) and is not flaking.
And buying it online, even if itâs from South Korea and I had to pay shipping, the price still came cheaper (around PHP600) compared to what I wouldâve paid for if I bought it locally (which I can no longer do since last I checked, Beauty in Seoul no longer stocked this product, even the old version).
Skin Watchers Green Snail Hydrating Gel [Reformulated, New Packaging] gets a 10/10, a holy grail and my skin savior. I already have another order from beautynetkorea with four more of these.
