With Halloween, and therefore Día de los Muertos, fast approaching, I would just like to remind y’all of some very important facts.

Día de los Muertos is a traditionally MEXICAN holiday

Now, is Día de los Muertos only celebrated by Mexicans? No, it came from the Aztecs, so other parts of Central America do celebrate it as well.

Can someone from the Dominican Republic celebrate Día de los Muertos? Of course. But since the Dominican Republic is a part of The Caribbean islands, it is very likely that your local Dominican does not celebrate Día de los Muertos.

So, please don’t just start putting Luz in Día de los Muertos “costumes” or calavera Catrina face paint. Many countries make up Latin America, not just Mexico. Please do not lump together all of Latin America under one roof.

Instead, please, and I cannot recommend this enough,

The Dominican Republic has a rich history!! Take advantage of your love of The Owl House and learn something new about a country you might not be familiar with. Learn about their history because of your love for our favorite ball of sunshine, and let your research show in your fan art, fanfics, and any other fan works your heart desires to make.

Please don’t take this post as me telling you what to do/what not to do, but just as a reminder to do your research before accidentally making a mistake. While you might not mean any harm, it could really hurt others unintentionally.

TW trauma and depression

I’m in a school for kids with mental health issues and learning issues and I don’t think my teacher understands I have the big depression and trauma and that I just triggered the shit outta myself by accident (being I didn't think it was a trigger) and I am unable to do work cause there's like 10000 things going through my brain and I keep having weird things with my senses like sometimes when I breath through my nose I smell something that I remember and affiliate with a bad thing, or feel it, like I feel like I'm shaking but on the inside, so like I can't remember like even stuff from when I was 12, bro that's only three years I know bad shit has happened to me but I thing there's more and i’m probably gonna have to ask my mom about it
