Crazy Theory: CeCe is Charles
I was thinking about people the same age as Jason and other than Ezra and a bunch of dead people, there’s Melissa and… CeCe.
When the character joined the show, the fact her initials were CD made me think she was Alison’s twin (Courtney from the books). Charles DiLaurentis has the same initials.
She’s the correct age. When Alison was 14, a freshman in high school (she went missing Labor Day before sophomore year,) CeCe was 21… Seven years older.
CeCe loved and hated Alison. They tried on each other’s personalities. A likes seeing people pretend to be Alison. Alison supposedly got CeCe kicked out of UPenn, but we’ve only seen positive interactions between the two. CeCe was/acted as Red Coat and in season 3, when Spencer was attacked in the shower, the error code pointed to the exact episode and time the girls first met CeCe Drake. Instead of just pointing to CeCe, it could have implicated Big A all along.
CeCe wore the black hoodie in season 3 and was snooping on Ezra.
Marlene said Charles has a strong body and personality. CeCe definitely had a strong personality (“everything with CeCe is intense” - Jason), and we saw CeCe fight Aria.
She visited Mona in Radley. When the game was stolen.
She was present when the body (Bethany’s) was stolen. When Spencer and Jenna played Truth at Noel’s party, Jenna said she was protecting someone and exchanged glances with CeCe. CeCe was there when the body was dug up.
CeCe was present at the ice ball, Charles was there and took photos of the boyfriends. She was wearing a white hoodie-type costume. She noted the girls were planning something and told Alison, later A attacks Hanna when she and Spencer break into Alison’s house.
Mrs. D let her live under her house and gave her clothes when she was running from the law for killing Detective Wilden.
Her character was introduced at the right time. The beginning of season 3. And the first time we know she was active in the show was 301 when Bethany’s body was stolen. That episode was one of the important ones Marlene said to watch for clues. Along with “A dangerous game” 3x24 where they see Red Coat and CeCe kills Wilden. And “A is for answers” 4x24 where CeCe is arrested, talks to the cops, and says she knows who is in Alison’s grave and it may have nothing or everything to do with Wilden’s murder. Also Marlene said to look at 512 when Mona is attacked by a blonde and 513 when CeCe returns to the show in the Christmas episode.
Jason saw CeCe wearing the yellow top the night Alison went missing. Everyone who was out that night has been murdered or attacked. Mrs. D was “paying CeCe to stay quiet about that night”. Ezra paid CeCe to help him with his book. People are supplying CeCe with money and A has a hefty income b
When Aria and Wes are helping CeCe prep for a shoot at her boutique, she says she has to leave and then calls Aria and tells her her car broke down or crashed and she can’t come back. We see her in her car and she looks fine. Soon after, Jason and Emily are attacked in an elevator after finding a photo of Alison, Wilden, and CeCe in Mrs. DiLaurentis’ office.
In 501, Alison gives CeCe her ticket to France. A is then absent from the show for the next four episodes. Because CeCe is abroad. We don’t know exactly when CeCe returns to the U.S. for sure.
Mrs. D got mad when CeCe went to Radley, she yelled at Alison because she was called and told her daughter was in Radley and wanted to hurt herself. Mrs. D sped down there concerned it was Alison… But it could have really been “her daughter” if CeCe is Charles.
Mrs. D had issues with CeCe but also provided for her a lot. She gave her money, clothes, a place to stay in her basement, and she let someone lease property for free (which was sketchy and probably connected to A’s lair).

What’s the motive? Well, obviously, CeCe is a girl. Charles could be transgender, and a lot of people aren’t accepting of that. That could be why Charles was sent to Radley. He could have befriended Bethany and Bethany hated Mrs. DiLaurentis, possibly because she sent Charles away and didn’t accept him. But Mrs. D is still somewhat supportive of CeCe (her son) and has protected CeCe on multiple occasions. Charles could be envious of Alison because she did get to be the DiLaurentis daughter and because Alison is insensitive about sexuality (she called Lucas Hermie) and teased Emily for being gay.
There aren’t any baby photo albums of Jason, possibly because his fraternal twin brother who was rejected from the family is in them.
Charles would hate his entire family (A killed Mrs. D, has preyed on Jason, Alison, and the Hastings), but A has left Mr. DiLaurentis (who wouldn’t be his father) alone.
A few things don’t make sense. Apparently CeCe and Jason dated, but we don’t know this for sure. Maybe Jason didn’t know it was his brother. OR he did know but pretended they were dating so they could have a relationship/be close without anyone finding out she used to be a man.
It seems like Charles was in Radley and must have known Bethany… But CeCe was a relatively successful and put together U Penn student.
I will have to rewatch the past three seasons for more clues, but they said there have been a ton all along, and I feel like this is “a ton all along”.
