BIOGRAPHY
As a young girl Calliope always thought that being the slightly older twin would have itās advantages. She enjoyed the time she spent with her brother Hunter playing games like Cops and Robbers. Her mom, who made a living selling homemade goods at craft fairs, frowned upon such behavior and did her best to instill a love of cooking, cleaning and creating into the girl. Her father - āSargeā as her and Hunter referred to the man - would tell his wife to relax as he affectionately ruffled Caliās hair and told her sheād always be his little Cadet. The man was certain she would follow in his footsteps and join the US Military once she was old enough. Calliope had every intention on doing anything her father wanted to make him proud until the summer he sent her to military camp. At 15, after a long grueling summer with her pleas to leave early and go home going unanswered, Cali realized she didnāt want to be in the military. She loved her father and wanted to make him proud, but she knew that wasnāt where her heart was. When she returned from camp that August she had a long discussion with her mother about her decision, and Mrs. Clarington was overjoyed to hear that she wouldnāt have to worry about her daughter being in danger. By the time she was 18, danger had become Caliās middle name. In an effort to discover more of who she was and what she wanted to do with her life, Cali made many friends. She made a lot of choices she came to regret and after being arrested for underage intoxication her father had given her an ultimatum - she could join the military and straighten out her life or she could move out. With little money to her name and only the items she could carry with her, Calliope left her fatherās home with her head held high. She spent a few weeks sleeping at various friendās homes before an aunt on her motherās side offered to take her in. The next two years found Cali working as a waitress and attending a Culinary Arts school nearby. Thought cooking had never been a passion of hers it was something the girl knew she was good at, at least enough to make a small career out of. That was where she met Ryan Hart, a fellow Culinary Arts student who had a rather unusual goal - he wanted to be a chef for the military. The two were paired together on a baking project and after some initial competitiveness from Caliās side they ended up working together well and acing the project. Within a month they were dating, and by eight months they were married. Cali didnāt tell her family about the wedding until after the honeymoon. Marriage had come fast, but Cali had never been happier. The two got an apartment on base and settled easily into life as a young married couple. After Ryanās first tour the couple discussed an idea Cali had - owning and operating a food truck. Ryan agreed, but only if Cali allowed him to help in his down time as well as them hiring a friend of theirs to help when Ryan couldnāt. The food truck was a huge success and Cali finally felt like sheād found her calling. Within the next two years Caliās life went from amazing to horrible and left her completely at a loss of what to do. Shortly after the birth of their first child Cali caught Ryan cheating on her. The two went through a messy divorce and custody battle. In the end, Cali got the food truck and gets their daughter for holidays and two months during summer break. After the divorce and alerting the proper court authorities, Cali decided to change her name as well as move and not tell any family or friends (aside from her co-worker for the food truck) where she was going. She ended up in Santa Cruz because of the food scene. Her food truck continues to be successful, but to afford the cost of living in a two-bedroom apartment on her own Cali had to find another way to make money.
