Step 1 - Get out || OS
I placed the chain mail tunic onto me, it felt somewhat heavy, but nothing I couldn't handle, same could be said for the mace. I looked behind me seeing Alaistar dashing towards me, then towards my right where Sloane was running with the girl from two, and to my left just off in the distance I could see two more figures making a dash for it. I wasn't sure what to do, the whole idea of the games was kill or be killed, but I didn't want to kill any of these people, especially because I was surrounded by the ones who were kindest to me.
I continue on forward, this time beginning to go foreward towards the river. I ignored the people around me the same way they ignored me, all I saw was Alastair attempting to cross the river until he was swept away, and then I hesitated. I looked to see how quickly the currents were going, and knew I had to be careful. Clenching the mace with both hands, I attempted to throw it over the river with all my might, just barely making it to the other side. Now that I got that there, all I needed to do was get myself there. Looking around to see what I could use, I saw trees, but they were all on the other side...they served me no use.
I had to take my chance and cross, I didn't want to be eaten alive by the rest of the tributes, I slowly began to walk over, my legs going into the water and instantly feeling the push of the river, the only reason I wasn't swallowed up was from the chain mail on me, it served as an extra weight and that was helpful. Halfway through, the current intensified, and I found myself being swept away off of my feet and through the waters, splashing, I had gone swimming during training so I just took my time and focused. Turning around, I began to swim with the direction the current was going in, it was much harder with the chain mail, but it was bearable. I found myself swimming towards the left side, trying to get on the same side my mace was on, until I latched onto the giant roots of one of the trees sticking out, clenching onto it, I held on tightly, the root easily being able to sustain my body weight and more, I began to pull myself up, dragging my sorry ass onto the land, I flopped onto my back and wheezed, coughing out some water, I slowly turned around to find that I had gone much further than I thought, my mace not even in sight any more.
Taking my time, I slowly began to walk, body drenched in water, I could feel the goosebumps going down my neck. Finally, after a couple of minutes I regained my mace, realizing I hadn't gone as far as I thought. Looking around, I saw nobody through the forest lines, and knew that would be the best place for me to head if I wanted to play it safe, and so I began my journey into the forest drenched from my head to my toes.
