Hello, and welcome to another one of Emma’s late night ramblings, it’s been a while since I turned a standard photo post into a heartfelt drawn out essay (that nobody reads but me once every few months) where I try to sound somewhat profound, so here goes.
Funny how the world works, isn’t it?
I suppose I thought I’d seen it all, thought the things I’d felt were what all of these silly romantics obsessed over, safe to say I never really understood the hype. Now that was not for lack of trying, trying to kid myself and the rest of the world on from time to time, wanting to look like what everyone else was feeling.
It’s a bit sad, the day you realise you’ve lost bits of yourself along the way. When you notice the changes in you.
BUT. The day you stop to pay attention to how YOU feel, when you decide you no longer want to be disrespected, used, manipulated and hurt. When you finally think, “if this is the bus ride you’re all on, I want off”. That’s a good day, for lack of a better (less cringey) saying, it’s freeing.
There are an unimaginable amount of people in this world that don’t have a lot of good in them; who will make you value your worth, try to morph you into their perfect human, do/say anything they need to to get what they want. Those are not your people.
Be with the person who makes time disappear, the person who makes your face ache from laughing, the person who loves you entirely, loves you alone and every flaw you have.
If you’d came to me a year ago with a story of how you’d met someone and “just clicked”, of how you just totally got each other and you almost instantly knew this was going to be your person. I’d have probably smiled and told you that was lovely (I’m a horrid people pleaser like that) but internally I’d have sighed and rolled my eyes. Sickening, cringey, fairy tail, bullshit. That’s the way a jealous mind goes. My bad.
But I apologise, I do totally understand now.
