Soooo why is no one talking about this?????!!!!!!

People I'd like to get to know better (tag game)
Thanks for the tag @indianatrinket and @hayffiebird! What an honour
Current song: Just discovered 'Hammond Song' by Wolf Alice (it only came out last Friday, but I've never listened to much of their music before) and omg it's so gorgeous, the harmonies and the build!!!
Currently watching: About to finish a rewatch of La Casa de Papal (Money Heist) and GAWD what a good show, I've bloody loved seeing it again as it's been a while.
Current obsession: Errrmmmm I mean, I'm always cycling through my longterm obsessions, they keep me company haha. I don't feel like any one fandom is really holding my attention significantly at the moment, but the things that have been more present in my week would probs be Hadestown (going to a Hadestown/Hamilton club night tomorrow hahaha), Money Heist since we're deep in the rewatch, Skulduggery Pleasant (doing some art, don't even ask...) and I've been dipping my toes back into reading some Alias fanfic because Jack and Irina are always fun/chaotic to return to.
Currently working on: an overly ambitious longterm art piece for China Sorrows and Skulduggery Pleasant (of all my ships, this one is like the weirdest and cringiest to still be invested in, but what can you do). But basically I'm wanting to do a lowkey comic-ish series that illustrates a section of one of the books (Bedlam, China's dream, iykyk) but as an extra challenge, I'm trying my hand at some very very simple animation as well. So far I've done 2 of 8 panels, and lemme tell you, I do not know how animators do it, I've had to simplify my original idea because actually I just don't have the skills or experience haha. But it's a good experiment and I'm enjoying myself so that's the main thing.
Last Google search: Proof the Musical - stumbled across September L. Davis (aka Ana Gasteyer's hilarious character) and wanted to know if her apparent broadway show 'Proof, a New Musical, an exploration of Love, Loss and Math' was at all real. It's not, but it is a legit movie and play lolol
Favourite flower: Snowdrop!
I will tag @stellareadsandwrites @dollsome-does-tumblr @ohtobealady @andallthatmishigas @queenofnabooty @cozcat @thesunsetsea @theunconventionalking @hatters-workshop and anyone else who wants to do this!!!
“Then we’ll never see Effie again,” says Peeta. We didn’t see her on the morning of the Games last year. “You’ll give her our thanks.”
“More than that. Really make it special. It’s Effie, after all,” I say. “Tell her how appreciative we are and how she was the best escort ever and tell her… tell her we send our love.”

AAAAHHHHH I LOVE THESE SOOOO MUCH! @hayffiebird you have done a wonderful job with the stickers, I'm honoured to be involved!!! 😍😘
I could write books for 10 hours straight five days a week all year long if they’d let me. But I am SO lazy when it comes to making art and improving the craft of drawing and illustrating by actually doing it.
You on the other hand seem so passionate about your art. :) When you share a hayffie piece for instance, it’s like one can spot how much love, dedication and effort was put into each stroke so please (if you want to): would you share a little about what art means to you and how you make room for it in your life?
I’m always inspired and amazed by creative people who persevere and improve more and more each day by studying the craft and making time for it in their schedule because they genuinely enjoy the process and cannot NOT engage in the creative activity that they’ve always loved. Like it’s a calling, never a chore. Not even when it’s hard and tiresome. It’s still something they will get back to. Make room for.
Love your blog!
Hello and OH MY GOODNESS this is the sweetest loveliest message I could ever receive, thank you so much for your kind words. This meant a lot, not only because it's a wonderful compliment, but because you summed up exactly how I do feel about my art - that it's something I truly can't live without and enjoy doing more than almost anything! (Also, it means even more coming from someone who I know is so dedicated to their craft - your writing is fantastic - so from one creative to another, THANK YOU!)
To answer your question, art means absolutely everything to me. My favourite part about it is in the process of simply making it, but also, of course, by consuming it in all forms; be that visual art, film, theatre, music etc etc. I teach art and drama at a high school, so I feel very lucky to be essentially immersed in two subjects I adore, and able to share that passion with young people. Sure, it's not exactly fine art or top professional theatre, but being able to go to work and be involved in creative exploits everyday is something I'm very grateful for.
In the last few years I've realised that doing art or being creative with a purpose - whether that's creating fanart, or an art-class exemplar, or directing the school production, or performing in a local musical - is literally essential to my wellbeing. Like, I'm not myself, I'm not as happy if I'm not working on something that fuels my creative soul. That might sound really cheesy, but when people talk about art in all its forms being 'the humanities' and making you human, I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't be me if I didn't have that. Even though I work full time now, I make sure to have room for my own art - after school and on the weekends I'm often pottering away on something, and you're right, it's not because I feel forced to, it's because I genuinely WANT to; it never feels like work, it just feels like fun.
I went to art school and although it was very bullshitty at times, I valued the space to work and grow and dedicate myself in a practical sense to art for hours and days on end. I knew I never wanted to be an 'artist' in a gallery/exhibition/modern art conceptual way, because above all else, I just love DOING art, not necessarily thinking about the high-up wankiness of it all. Now I'm very content to teach the technical skills to students (I actually love being a teacher too, like I don't just do it as an excuse to work in an art related space, I love working with kids), and I do my silly little fanart in my own time. I have my redbubble account, but it's fairly sporadic in terms of sales, and I have my tumblr and my instagram, but the reason behind making any new piece is because I want to, and if it finds an audience who love it too, that's a little extra bonus.
In short, art is everything to me; its value, its healing properties, its ability to make you think and create and see is limitless, encompassing and wonderful. Thank you so much for asking!
