freaky snacks meant to choke
I'm in recovery. I live in Seattle now and for the first time in years, I'm living without roommates or anyone to "trigger" me. I also have bulimia.
There, I said it. I moved to Seattle in the June of 2017 with a friend who also had a bad relationship with food. Only, she would talk about fasting and calorie counting. Both habits are completely habits I choice to avoid as I have been encouraging myself to enjoy food again.
It's been a tricky couple of years for sure. I spent so much money on delicious steaks that I would neglect in the shared fridge until they turned brown from age.
I would regularly point out how unhelpful her attitude about food was affecting me to no avail. It was heartbreaking.
Not only was she going on about how terrible animal products where but also her eventual partner would do the same. Regardless of how many times I asked them to not do so while I was around.
Today I can say without any doubt I don't remember the last time I weighed myself. It's never been my goal to maintain a goal weight.
I've always been skinny and with my body type, I was always bullied for the way I appeared. Even adults would ask me about my food habits. I'm sure they were concerned for me at a young age.
I remember hating that being the topic people would start with when talking to me. I may be slim and seem like I have it all together but I'm struggling and that is ok. I'm trying to feel better about it.
