current workings: 1-the paranomaly hotline

decided to go a little funzies and make a new email so i can like send people asks and what not

hello tumblr! have you heard of my little comic series, the paranomaly hotline? i normally run a roleplay blog talking about it, or occasionally post on my main, but i decided to say screw it, adand provide a place for non-roleplay stuf! here, i talk about updates, can answer character questions, do fun facts, reblog things with the tag for characters, and all that fun stuff! if youd wanna talk with the characters for some off-timeline stuff, check out the @the-paranomaly-hotline which features all the main "call-responders", and may feature others someday (note: since that blogs existed for years, it doesnt reflect on all the changes made for story reasons, so keep that in mind)

thisll be updated occasionally to look nicer, add ids where needed, write what im currently working one, all that stuff! feel free to check back here to see that (its also an important note that this is, essentially, a big draft, as many characters and plot lines have been adjusted for various reasons)

the story is a big collection of my interests, and above all else was written for me in mind always. characters will probably make references to real life media, but otherwise is its own thing! i made it before i ever heard of home safety hotline, but thinking on it i now count the game as inspiration for how this has progressed. now the reason i mention interests is i do hold an interest in how people cope with and recover from trauma, and itll show up for multiple characters, so yeah...

currently, i am focused on: side character designs, layouts, and small adjustments to stories/designs of the main characters!

no actual place to read this exists yet, since no drawn panels exist and even then i dont know where i WOULD post them

i forget a lot that ev made it canon basically that the paranomaly hotline has a cat. it does make sense and makes me smile. i feel like piper is a dog person but still adores kitties

i didnt wanna make the intro superrrr long so i made this a linked post so i can jsut. have it Somewhere lol (also its easy to edit when big things change)

the main characters featured in the story are:

piper burt: the somewhat protagonist of this story. a physically and mentally disabled queer woman whos quite timid and nervous while interacting with her new coworkers, even knowing that none of them mean them harm. is dating milo, who actually got it this job. any pronouns

milo harmock verna-adolini: the girlfriend of piper. an energetic person who has quite great people skills. she tries to remember the times to be calm, but perfection doesnt make for an interesting character, not here at least. recently officially hired as a call responder. he/her

rune gateway: an empathy-lacking and somewhat reckless person, but gets the job done. teases many of their friends, but if they know when not to is another question. it/neos/they

clover aergon: the youngest call responder and about the calmest person here. no matter the situation, hes always seemed to keep a straight face and a blunt vocabulary. hes aware of his lack of expression, but if that bothers him, its hard for him to show it. he/him

whelan denise breathnach ("whip"): the longest of this cast to be a call responder, and the only one to have worked as a janitor, those who go in themselves to handle certain entities. while her anger issues can be a challenge for dealing with certain coworkers, she generally is too tired to take it beyond a break room simmering. she/they

atari macgold: if any were to be leader of this group, itd probably be atari. their optimistic nature and energy while working makes them a pleasure to save people from imminent danger of unknown forces! they get along with anybody and generally keep the tension down for everyone. it/they/mem/crys, tolerates she/her

moss nelfson: just about everything about this boygirl is strange. from the way he talks to the constant smile on her face, he has good intentions, even if hes off putting. while trying to be understanding, its clear he may not understand how to wrangle his own issues into view before helping out friends. he/her

the comic series, which is called calls & cryptids, focuses around the paranomaly hotline (name of the first book in the series if i make it a bigger series lol). the hotline itself is an underground corporation acting as first responders to all sorts of imagined and/or real dangers. alternate worlds, sirens, faefolk, and others- this company aims to help victims who call the number navigate safely away from the dangers, or have people on the ground to aid when that isnt possible. the first comic is the only planned in full, but introduces us to many of the main call responders we follow in this series. this includes...

piper burt! an intern at the paranomaly hotline for three weeks now, who's found that her girlfriend may have just gotten her one of the strangest jobs. with her high paranoia, not even her meds can help her decipher whats real and what isnt. as questions fill her mind, its almost as if the answers seek out piper, as she must prove one thing: is she truly ready to answer the call?
