This week‘s set are tiny DIN-A7 books with Kawaii patterns made with a stitch I tried out for the first time, the unsupported blanket stitch. I‘m still learning at selling online (not that I sell too much offline that is), so today I only listed two of them on vinted, the others will follow over the course of the week. At this size, you can comfortably hold them with one hand, and with 160 pages, they can still hold all your ideas.

I did not have much time for this week‘s set. So, here are some booklets made with 3-Hole Pamphlet Sewing.

I was so happy to have received this order. I was contacted via vinted last week, the person asked if I had lined notebooks, which I usually don‘t. So, we agreed on the order, and I finished these two. They are DIN-A6, lined inside and made with a combination of French Link and Coptic Stitch.

I really like how these turned out. The 4 Needle Coptic Stitch is very well suited for mixing colors in the thread and otherwise, so, I really leaned into that this time. these are DIN-A5, btw. Also, you can really see the coptic pattern on most of them, which I don‘t always manage to, and which makes me proud.

These are made with a method I learned from the youtube channel sea lemon. She uses it to make a small book with an actual spine, but I was thinking, it‘s just one section, so I‘m making a normal booklet without much of a spine instead, saves me time, paper and storage room.

Also, I‘m thinking of trying this with the group of children I work with once a month. Yes, it has more holes than a traditional pamphlet sewing, but I think, it might still be less complicated to do the actual sewing (speaking for elementary school age children, not someone who‘s used to stitching or handsewing).

I made another one of these, they are very flexible, maybe a bit too much so, but also, they‘re so cute.

I finished this last week, working with origami paper is fun, but also, it could be a tad more stable, those became very flexible. Also, why is it 14x14cm and not 15x15cm? It‘s 0,8cm short from being able to become a DIN-A6, which makes me a bit sad, I‘m not sure why.

I think this one came out probably the best of the series. Speaking of which, this is the last of this request series, so yay, I finished something.

This does not mean that I‘ve got no requests left to do, just this project is now done. Onto the next one, I guess.

Here‘s my assignment for the digital painting academy‘s advanced coloring module, also the last one in the advanced chapter (so the next one will be from the ‚skilled‘ chapter).

The module talked a lot about color theory, which was more of a rewind for me, since I learned such theory from like 5th grade onwards, but a repetition is not unuseful for solidifying knowledge.

Anyway, for this, the task was to change the color scheme to achieve a different color theory, uhm, effect. So, I changed a complimentary color scheme to a double complimentary. Also, I did change the weather, for the color scheme and because it looks more epic than a calm sea background.

Also, the sketch was not made by me, but was one of the three included in the assignment by David Belliveau from the digital painting academy.

Here‘s this week‘s book set.

These are all made with a technique called French Link, which I like very much. I think, it looks very decorative to a point where to give these books a spine cover would feel like waste. Like, why would you do that? It can also lay flat this way.

Now I did use a slight variation of the stitch, where before I did the French Link part, I tugged the thread under the last stitch to make he binding firmer. I had to figure that out first though, which took more time than I would‘ve liked.

Anyway, I think, these came out pretty cute. The bigger ones are DIN-A6, while the small ones are DIN-A7. They can be purchased on my vinted profile.

I recently did another acrylic painting, it‘s just as small as the lotus flower one, only 10x10cm.

It has the same foundation colors as the others from this set of six canvases.

I know it‘s not that complicated , painterly speaking, but something simplicity can also be beautiful. Also, I tried out some new brushes on this.

For this week‘s set, I made some DIN-A6 booklets with a technique called dot dash. It was fun, and fairly quick, though I was slightly disappointed when the Kawaii-patterned Origami-paper turned out to be 14 cm, and not 15 cm long each side, so that not only did I had to glue two together, but also cut the inside paper to that length (I would‘ve needed it to be 14,8 cm). Anyway, I still think, they came out quite cute.

Last comission example done!

For the third one I wanted to do a fantasy character, and somehow I landed on doing a jøtunn in a suit, so that I have also displayed modern clothing.

I made these also this week, apart from the weekly stuff. Last time the double (or in this case quadruple) needle coptic set was almost sold out, and pretty quickly at that, so, we‘ll see how this one goes. They can be acquired via my vinted account.

Here‘s the second comission example. For the halfbody example I chose to depict a victorian lady, so that there is variation in gender, culture, etc. I fought a long fight with the lashes, but I really like the way they came out, also the hair.

This week‘s notebook set.

I made these with japanese butterfly binding, with which I have a bit of a love-hate relationship, I love the books that come out of it, being both flexible and firm at once, somehow, but it sometimes stresses me out while working at it. As always, these can be acquired via my vinted account.
