Right? Breaking a game board is tragic! Without the board, you can’t play the game. It’s easily the core asset to any board game.
Definitely. Not to mention, childhood memories snapped apart like a flimsy piece of cardboard? So tragic.

“I mean, I feel you on the work is a load of ballsac, but with that attitude, you arent going to be making much money. The future is now, dude.”

Faye pulled onto the road and began driving towards Starbucks. “If you ever need a ride, feel free to give me a ring. Just remind me to give you my number.” She laughed lightly, not removing her eyes off the road. “I’m a Liberian assistant. What do you do?”
Whipping out his phone, he pulled up his contact list, knowing he would forget to ask her later. He was a self-admitted pothead -- memory wasn’t his best trait sometimes.
“I’ll just grab it from you now,” he replied. “I’m a chef. Sounds fancy but it’s mostly just people screaming at you and a lot of potential burns waiting to happen.”
I should have stayed in bed.
“Weird is relative.” She knew exactly what he meant by kids were mean. She was lucky enough to slink by unnoticed in high school. Others weren’t so lucky. Her hand slowly left her side to gently touch his arm in a comforting way.
She stood quietly beside him her eyes downcast upon the gravestone. She had a sinking pit forming in her stomach, “I don’t understand why kids have to be so mean to others. We are all here for a short amount of time…we shouldn’t waste it hating one another..” People deserved to live how they wanted to without worrying about how other people would react. “I should have stopped to get flowers..”
He liked that saying. Weird is relative. He would have to keep that in mind. It raised his opinion of her a few notches. The hand on his shoulder caused him to glance down and he smiled a bit, letting out a small sigh.
“Trust me, I don’t understand it either.” Was all he said, gaze having returned to his friends stone. He continued to stand, staring and puffing away at his vice in silence. About a minute passed before he seemed to brighten up, beginning to walk down a different path.
“We can go pick some if you want?”

Right? A snowboard, a.. long board? I was personally initially thinking of a game board.
Chalk board... Boogie board... To be fair, I would have been equally upset if I had broken a game board.

With a laugh she pulled out a free hand and pretended to sign the air before falling back in her seat, fingers gingerly returning to the joint in her hands. “I got a decent sense of humor. Course, I say that but really it all depends on what you find funny!” She nodded at him then finished up rolling the blunt before handing it off to him. “There you go, knock yourself out.”
“Very good point. For all you know, I could be a knock-knock joke enthusiast,” as he spoke, his eyebrows raised a bit comically. He reached out to take the joint, placing it between his lips. Speaking around it as he lit it, he introduced himself.
“You can call me Cam. Pleasure to meet you. It happens to be under my favorite circumstance.” He laughed a bit, smoke escaping as he did.

“Don’t be.” she replied smiling over at him. “There is no reason for you to be sorry.”
She followed his lead and unbuckled climbing out of the car. She didn’t bother locking it, she jogged to catch up to him. She hoped that he didn’t mind her tagging along. “Kyle Scruggs…what was he like?” Was that an inappropriate question? She wasn’t sure.
No, he didn’t mind her tagging along at all. In fact, he was grateful of all things to have some company. “Well, weird. Like me, I guess. Kids are mean, you know? And being bullied... It’s...” He trailed off, sighing as he kicked a branch, sending it flying. “Tough.”
“He was so smart, though. He used to help me with my math homework. Kid was a genius.” He stopped walking as they reached his grave. Plopping down in front of it, he lit the joint and took a few puffs.
“Some people can’t handle bullying. Kyle was one who couldn’t.”

“You make a good point. Though with prostitution I’d get more than just the cash out of it.”
“Depends. I doubt the sex is ever worth the time, if that’s what you mean.”

Faye slid down into the leather seat. Immediately, she got comfortable and put her seat on over her chest. “You don’t need to thank me. It’s what friends do for friends.” She turned to look at him then extended her hand out towards him, grabbing his and shaking it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Camden. I’m Faye, Faye Monteon.”
Faye turned her attention back onto the vehicle. Putting the key into the ignition and turning the engine over, she stepped on the brake and put the car into reverse and pulled out of the parking spot.
After introductions had been made, Camden took his hand back, leaning his chin on his knuckles.
“Still, I really appreciate it. I don’t often get rides. Or, well, I guess I usually don’t need them but now I need a new skateboard, so...” He trailed off, getting lost in his own thoughts before he shrugged. “So, what do you do for work?”

“ —– I’m kidding…mostly. For now I’ll stick with having fun.”
“Hey -- they don’t make bad money.”
“But I’d much rather be a stripper. Safer, cleaner and still more fun than your average desk job.”

“That’s exactly why I could never stand to work in a hole like this. You got a job?”
“Sure do. Work in the kitchen. What could you stand then?”

Her hands stayed on the wheel except to reach up and tuck a small strand of her hair behind her ear. “Still, that must be tough sometimes.” The only person she had lost was her grandmother and she was too young to understand what was going on. She eyed him as she watched him pull out a joint, “Oh..uh it’s okay I’m not offended. I appreciate the offer, but I don’t s-smoke.”
She began to slow down as the car approached the graveyard. “Where is he buried in here?”
“Oh, sorry -- “ He hurried to place it gently behind his ear, as if the exchange had never happened. Again, he cleared his throat briefly, surveying the graveyard before him as the car pulled up to their destination.
“It is tough, yeah. But I try not to think about it in a negative light too much.” Unbuckling his seat belt, he got out of the car, beginning to walk towards the open gate. “Not too far in. There’s a little path, then some garden type shenanigans and ta-da! Kyle Scruggs.”
