I great you, my good traveler, in the name of King Arthur of Camelot. Here you will find all manner of art relating to my favourite pairings and the fandoms they are in. They are very near and dear to me and I love to make up little stories about them. I also enjoy seeing what others have produced and will endeavor to display them in the halls of this castle. I understand that during my excursions through the wilds I may encounter someone who is disturbed by my presence. In such instances I would ask they do not engage in any altercation with myself, but rather take measures to avoid me. If you choose to stay for a while, I will be most grateful, for I do so love company.

(note I [for those who can’t understand when I wax poetic]: I often browse through the tags of various fandoms and, although I do read them when I can, there are pages upon pages of content and I don’t have time to read through each blog’s DNI ; if I interact with you when you don’t want me to please block me and move on as I am not interested in internet drama)

(note III:I take a neutral stance when it comes to shipping discourse (as a note all characters in my ships are either around the same age or adults). There is of course, content I would rather not engage with, but I very strongly believe in using the block button, along with the tag and post filters, to avoid it, and I see no logic at all in arguing someone I don’t even know over the internet when I could be spending my time on something I enjoy. I have no desire to engage in a debate about what I ship, and I kindly ask that people respect that.)

Haunted by a prophecy that her son will die young at war, the sea-nymph Thetis disguises Achilles as a maiden named Pyrrha and hides him on the remote island of Skyros, where the lonely warrior bonds with the princess Deidameia, secretly marrying her and fathering a son. Back on the mainland, the seer Calchas divines through bird signs and entrails that Troy cannot fall without Achilles, and that he is hidden on Skyros. Odysseus sails to the island disguised as a merchant, laying out jewelry and weapons before the princesses, then signals a war trumpet to be blown, and Achilles alone reaches for the sword, tearing off his veil and revealing himself, for he was not made to live passively in secret among princesses. He embraces Deidameia one final time, promising not to forget their son, but they both know what the prophecy means, and he sets sail for Aulis, his heart lifting toward the horizon and the war to come.

Okay but what if the reason Laertes moved to the tiny cottage is because:

1. He didn't want to watch the sea that claimed his son

2. It was becoming too painful for him to wake up and see his precious boy only to then be snapped into reality by the fact that it isn't his son but grandson. He loves Telemachus but his fragile mind can't handle reopening these wounds.

Okay I love the idea of Telemachus, due to his uncanny resemblance to Odysseus, gets called Odysseus by those in the palace.

So they call him that by accident. Everyone agrees that he looks exactly like Odysseus when he was young. Not only that, but he moves like him. He has the temper, the expressions. It's almost as if Odysseus is right there, and thus the misnaming.

Then suddenly they all get slapped back into reality the moment Telemachus actually starts speaking because the way he speaks ─ the way he phrases words, the cadence of his voice, majority of his tone ─ is so Penelope. It's uncanny how he talks exactly like her.

The boy is quiet most days, so they only see him looking annoyed, looking at his face, the way he moves, the way he grits his teeth when frustrated, and it's just so Odysseus

Then he begins to talk, and talk more. And suddenly they're all oh right because that's Odysseus's son and not him.

Have you read the Thebaid?

If so, how do you feel polytyde as a ship, and Polynices/Tydeus as characters?

Tydeus is such a compelling character and badass, gotta love him! read this article on him a while ago and it’s so good….

I read to around… book 2? of the Thebaid on theoi then dropped it—that was a *while* ago though. Didn’t finish. Thinking about trying again but with J.W.J.’s translation bc I’ve heard good things!

Most of what I remember about Polynices is from the Antigone, it’d be cool to see if my thoughts on him change after finishing the Thebaid. my thoughts on him are pretty surface level and uninteresting.

as far as shipping them, I believe in my heart of hearts one must always make 2 dudes kiss. For enrichment 🙂‍↕️
