A/N → I recently rewatched httyd 2 and I can't get this song out of my head, I also think it would sound cute in a Camilo x reader fanfic
You and Camilo have known each other ever since you found him hiding from his family before his gift ceremony, from how nice and caring you were to him even when you have never met him he thought you were an angel. After his ceremony he came up to you and and asked you to marry him, you were 5 so your parents and his laughed about it. And after that day you were inseparable, literally anywhere you went Camilo would be with you and vice versa. And even after growing up and knowing what it meant, Camilo asked you to marry him again, maybe like every time he sees how nice and caring you are, or for how amazing your smile is when you two pull pranks on the townspeople.
You were now 10 and life couldn't get better for the two of you, but all of a sudden your parents told you some news that would change your life, and the problem is you didn't know how to tell Camilo. It was another normal day in the town of Encanto and you two were hanging out in the little hideout you found in the woods near the village. Camilo was laying on the grass while you hanged upside down from a tree branch, and Camilo could tell that something was bothering you with how quiet you were "hey mi vida, everything ok?" he would always use pet names since he always heard his parents use them, and old habits die hard.
His voice snapped you out of your thoughts making you almost fall from where you were. "Everything is fine. Why do you ask?" you sit up looking at him as he stood from where he was laying "you look like something is bothering you, did something happen? or someone bothered you? Do I have to-" "Milo" you cut him off as you jump down from the branch walking up to him "No one did anything it's just..." you took a deep breath, not knowing how to tell him. He reached for your hand and pulled you into a hug "What's bothering you cariño?" you hug him back and bury your face into his shoulder "well, my parents had just told me today that... My father got accepted to a job he applied to and-" You pulled a way to look at him, but quickly looked away "we'll have to... We're moving away to the city for my father's job" you look up at him again only to see his smile fade away, turning into a frown "but... You're coming back again right?" he asked with a glimpse of hope in his eyes, you bury your face into his shoulder again hugging him tightly, with him doing the same "We're not sure yet. But there is a chance" he just hugs you tighter "we're staying for the celebration for your newborn brother, then we're leaving" he then pulled away from the hug and held up both your hands "then in that case I wanna promise you something"
After you left Camilo had always hoped for you to come back, never forgetting about you or the promise you two made before you left. Now he was 15 and after the accident with the miracle his family was closer and happier than ever.
But what he didn't know that life had more surprises for him.
One day he came back from doing his chores to his house being decorated by his family and some of the townspeople helping "Mijo perfect timing, can you help me carry these bags into the kitchen?" Pepa asked him once she noticed he had come back. "Sure but what's the occasion for all of this?" he asked as he walked into the kitchen to find his tía making a feast "It's a surprise. You'll know when it happens" Julieta added as she took the bag from him.
He continued to help around asking several people what the occasion was but they all would refuse to tell him.
By the time everything was done more people started to arrive to Casita. Camilo was tired from all the work so he decided to relax in your hideout and since he didn't know the occasion for whatever was today he figured it wouldn't bother him.
As he sat on the grass gazing at the night sky he heard footsteps getting closer 'but no one knows about this place except for me' he thought as a figure started to get closer. Once he saw you he recognized you instantly, though your features had changed he could tell it was you.
"Luna?" he he couldn't believe you were actually there, he hoped you would come back but it was a small glimpse and he wouldn't be that surprised if you didn't come back. "it's been a while" you waved at him. He took slow steps towards you in case this was all in his head, he finally reached you, reaching out his hand to touch your cheek. He then hugged you tightly making you lose your balance a little "You took way too long you idiot" he says burying his face in your shoulder, you hug him back just as tightly "Lo siento, I got held back a little" you joked as he pulled away, cupping your face with his hands "you're finally back" he whispered as he leaned his forehead agent yours.
You two just stayed there the rest of the night, catching up with each other. After talking you two fell in a comfortable silence just enjoying each other's company, Until Camilo broke it, whistling a song you memorized just as good as your name.

He then lifted you up and spun you around and you both laughed, he then settles you down leaning his forehead against yours "Ay mi amor, te extrañé" he said as he pulled away, reaching up his hand to cup your cheek, with you leaning into his touch "Yo tambien te extrañe cariño" You then leaned up and pressed a quick peck to his lips before going back to hug him.
you then feel a few rain drops falling on your head, you look around to see Pepa, Dolores, Isabela and your mother watching you, Pepa crying tears if joy for seeing her son so happy, with Dolores trying to calm her down. Camilo buried his face in your shoulder as you hugged him tighter "Bienvenida a casa querida" he pulls away and pulls your hand up, kissing the back of it.
