Robert Johnson recorded just 29 songs in his entire life—no interviews, no videos, and only two known photographs—yet those few recordings quietly built the foundation of modern blues and rock; he once struggled as a guitarist before mysteriously disappearing and returning with a style so complex it sounded like multiple musicians playing at once, giving rise to the legend that he sold his soul at the crossroads, and though he died unknown at just 27, his music went on to shape legends like Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and The Rolling Stones—proving that sometimes, a handful of songs is enough to change the sound of the world forever

A warm hand nudged your shoulder, followed by a soft brush of lips. You stirred quietly, turning your head in the direction you felt body heat radiating from. You hummed softly, questioning why you had been woken up. When your eyes cracked open, they were met by none other than your boyfriends, Dean.
“Good morning,” he whispered, placing another kiss on your shoulder, “Got a plan for us today. Sammy made us some food, I got us some beer, we can drive to the coast and watch the sun come up.”
Your eyebrow jumped in excitement, “Really? Just me and you?”
Dean nodded, moving to softly kiss your lips this time, “And Baby, of course.”
A chuckle escaped your lips as you returned the kiss. It only lasted a moment before he pulled you up and out of the bed. The two of you moved about the room in silence as you got ready. It was different than usual. There was no rush or urgency to run out the door and race to a new city or state that was having some type of supernatural occurrence. You had all the time in the world to get ready for the day that Dean had planned ahead. You brushed your teeth in a calm state, did your hair, picked out your best outfits and also had time in between to stop and soak up the quiet with your love.
The two of you made your way to the kitchen, the foods, snacks and beers already packed away into a cooler and ready to go thanks to Sam. He knew what today was for the two of you, so in little brother fashion, he did his best to make sure it went as smoothly as it could.
“God bless, Sammy.” Dean smirked, tucking the blankets Sam had left out for the two of you, under his arm and grabbed the basket with his free hand.
He loaded up Baby as you sat in the front seat, shuffling through his cassettes before you eventually found the one you know he’d want to hear. You loaded it into the player, skipping around until you heard the song you were looking for. You giggled to yourself when you heard Dean shout out in excitement as ‘Travelling Riverside Blues’ began to play.
“Dork,” you muttered, just before Dean got into the car, “I have never seen you with this much energy before.”
“Today’s a good day,” he smiled, throwing Baby into drive and peeling off down the street to your destination.
♡♡♡♡
You sat on the hood of Baby, the sounds of the engine tingling as it cooled itself down from the drive. Dean stood a couple feet ahead of you, laying out the blankets and setting up the basket. You wanted to help him but he insisted that you didn’t. He knew he wasn’t the most romantic nor the softest guy out there, so he tried to make that up in certain ways to you. You always appreciated his efforts, but he knew that he never needed to change who he was for you to love him. You always did love him, and you always will.
“How’d I do?” he asked when he walked back over to you, helping you down and leading you over to his masterpiece.
“It’s perfect,” you smiled, leaning up on your tippy toes to kiss his cheek before lowering yourself down onto the blanket.
For a while, neither of you spoke. A comfortable silence taking over the two of you as you ate your sandwiches and drank beers. Soft giggles and chuckles here and there when the two of you began feeding each other fruits, kissing each other in between. Soon enough, the food and beers were discarded back into the baskets, and the two of you laid back, looking up into the sky, watching as the birds flew by.
“Do you ever think about it?” you asked.
“About what?”
Taking a deep breath and closing your eyes as the sun started to rise, “The future. And what it has for us.”
Dean took a deep breath himself, truth be told, he had been thinking a lot about the future lately. What it held and what it could do. If it would be how he secretly hoped it would. A house with a white picket fence surrounding it. Him outside with your shared son, spending some father-son time together. Building their new at home playground, while you're inside pregnant with your soon to be daughter, making her boys lunch. The family that Dean always wished he had growing up, is the family that he so badly craves with the woman that he gets to call his laying beside him.
“Yeah,” a slight pause, “yeah, I do.”
The silence took over the two of you again, nothing can be heard besides the soft chirps from the birds that flew by and the songs playing from Baby that was never parked too far away. Only one song had played before the next one made an idea pop into Dean’s head. It was one of your favorite songs, ‘Blue Sunday’. He remembers the first time he heard it, it was on one of your first dates. You had told him that you listened to this song all the time growing up and that one day, you would dance with your future husband to it. Dean knew from that moment, it would be him. He wanted it to be him.
I found my own true love was
On a blue Sunday
Dean peered over at you just as the song began. He watched you as you laid with your eyes closed, soaking up the soft warmth that was beaming down on the two of you from the sun. Dean never would have thought that in a million years, he’d be laying on a cliff over the sea, with the love of his life, watching the sun over the horizon. To be truthful, he never thought he’d ever even be awake in his lifetime to watch the sun come up, but everything changed when you came into his life. You gave it a new meaning, you gave love a new feeling, and you gave him a new outlook on life. That maybe, just maybe, this world full of supernatural creatures was worth living in.
“C’mon,” Dean grunted as he lifted himself up and off the ground. You peaked your eyes open to see him straightening out his clothes before he extended his hand out to you, “c’mon, we’re gonna dance.”
A big smile graced your face as you reached your hand out to accept his, “Never thought I see the day that Dean Winchester asks me to dance.”
She looked at me and told me
I was the only
One in the world
Now I have found my girl
Your left hand was clasped together with his, your head resting on his shoulder while his other hand was firmly gripping your waist. The two of you slowly swayed together as the lyrics poured out of the radio and into your hearts. This was perfect, this was all you ever needed, you thought to yourself. So many years on this earth and you had never felt this happy nor content with life. You’d give everything if you could just stay here, in this moment, with the man of your dreams forever. Getting here with Dean was less than easy. The two of you had fought and broken up many, many times over the years. Thinking that the last time would be the final time, just for the two of you to find your way back to each other. You never knew what it was, why the universe kept pulling you back to him, back to each other. Thinking that it must've been some cruel joke or karma coming back to bite you in the ass, but now, you knew. That fate was just trying to keep the two of you together. All those fights, break up, lonely nights, would have been worth it in the end and now, they are.
My girl awaits for me in tender time
My girl is mine
She is the world
She is my girl
Dean pulled you closer to him as he moved to wrap both arms around your waist. Your arms instantly wrapped around his neck and you snuggled your face into the space between. His deep voice blessed the canal of your ear as he softly began to sing along to the song, as he sang to you. You couldn’t help but smile, you loved when Dean sang to you. He didn’t do it often, but when he did, you always made sure to cherish the moment.
“My girl awaits for me in tender time,” he sung as his arms tightened around you, his thumbs stroking your soft skin as his hands found their way underneath your shirt, “My girl is mine,”
“I love you,” you sighed contently into his ear, never wanting this moment to end.
“I love you more,” he muttered back, kissing the side of your head as the two of you continued to dance to the song, not caring who or what’s around, “Happy Anniversary, baby.”

Me, tears streaming down my face, sobbing, as I stare at the stars: it’s just so beautiful
The medieval peasant I went back in time to give a bag of Doritos to, concerned: what terrible and powerful sorcerers they must have in your age, to be able to veil the vault of heaven itself from view, as you say
Me, sniffling: I didn’t realize, I can’t, it’s so much, I, I… are the chips good, at least?
