CURTAINS, LAMINATES, BEDSHEETS, AND LIGHTING
With the title, âCamp Haven: A Home Away from Homeâ, a renovation project was launched last October 29,2018 by four graduating interior design students from Mapua University.
Renovating institutional spaces in need of design improvement has become a tradition in recent years in Mapua University Interior Design enabling the graduating class to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout their college years, at the same time having the opportunity to help create a better living space for people in need at no cost from them. This year, the chosen partner institution was Silungan ng Pag-asa, which is a halfway house that gives shelter to pediatric cancer patients and families from different provinces while getting treatment here in Manila.
To transform the bedroom (designed by Maoi Mae Muros and Mariel Lesley Victorino) and the function area (designed by Gelica Patricia Buaron and Kristen Grace Royong) in Silungan ng Pag-asa are the intentions of the renovation project. With the concept of a âCamp,â a child-friendly and flexible design is reflected in the new design of the space. Camps are often places where children meet new people and build relationships, while being in the safety and comfort of their environment. The patients had to be away from their homes in the provinces to get treatment in Manila, which is why the students opted to create a space where they would still feel at home despite the temporary stay. This is made possible with the participation of Cedarside Industries Inc., generously sponsoring the lights; the fabrics used for the curtains, blankets and pillowcases; and the laminates used for the bedroom door and built-in cabinet doors, all of which contributed in achieving a warmer and homelike environment for the institution.

The students asked for a partnership with the said company as it is in their knowledge that Cedarside Industries Inc. are composed of good quality products. The companyâs purpose was to introduce interior space products that are of high quality measuring up to the needs of its clients. Currently, Cedarside Industries Inc. has expanded to providing six product lines â Furniture, Fabrics, Blinds, Laminates, Wallcovers and LED Lights.Â

MATTRESSES AND PILLOWS
Four graduating Interior Design students from Mapua University launched a renovation project entitled, âCamp Haven: A Home away from Homeâ last October 29, 2018.
Renovating institutional spaces in need of design improvement has become a yearly tradition in Mapua University Interior Design enabling the graduating class to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout their college years, at the same time having the opportunity to help create a better living space for people in need at no cost from them. Considering the condition of the clients, a palliative approach was the core objective of the design. Â It is a priority of palliative design to create comfortable and calming interior environments for families and patients as they get treatment. With the generous contribution of Salem Bed Philippines, the residents of Silungan ng Pag-asa were provided with new mattresses and pillows that would greatly help them in having a comfortable and better sleeping condition that would also create the feeling of being at home.
With Salem Philippinesâ reputation as the leading mattress manufacturer in the Philippines, both the students and the residents of Silungan ng Pag-asa are in deep appreciation for their generosity in this endeavor. SOCKETS
On October 29, 2018, 4 graduating students of Mapua Interior Design launched its university exhibit entitled Camp Haven: A Home Away from Home. The exhibit was in partnership with Silungan ng Pag-asa (Shelter of Hope) located at Paco, Manila and other sponsors along with Mainline Power PH.
This yearâs exhibit aims to transform an institution, specifically a halfway house, through renovation of the function area (designed by Gelica Patricia Buaron and Kristen Grace Royong) and bedroom of children with cancer (designed by Maoi Mae Muros and Mariel Lesley Victorino). Through palliative approach, it aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with a life-limiting illness and their families through interior design by reducing their suffering in breaking the typical look for a halfway house.
Incorporating a palliative design and âcampâ as concept, the design itself is child-friendly and established a camping vibe throughout the said spaces. As part of the collaboration project, the graduating students asked the support of Mainline Power PH by putting safety and convenience that Mainline Power offers to allow the residents of Shelter of Hope to comfortably move and add sockets all around the place with no limits.Â
Mainline track was placed in play area and living area of the function hall, and in bedroom. Indeed, the possibilities are endless with the Mainline Power System. Itâs incredibly amazing and convenient.

Theyâre this yearâs proud exhibitors with the title CAMP HAVEN: A Home Away from Home, in collaboration with Silungan ng Pag-asa located just beside Paco Park in Manila!Â
