Check the winners of the FIWARE challenges

Las Palmas and Seville were the headquarters of the event: Connecting cities to the Internet of the future from October 13th to 17th.

In these cities, the finalists launched a prototype of their projects in front of a jury joined by engineers of the FI-WARE Consortium and experts that advised to the participants so they could improve their projects during the event.

During October 16th and 17th, final presentations of the challenges Smart Society and FIWARE Excellence took place. After the jury deliberated, the winners were announced during the Awards on October 17th.

Check the Smart Society Challenge finalists

Last April 24th  was the deadline for the submission of ideas for the Smart Society challenge of FI-WARE, to which we had 300 registered users, representing more than 20 different nationalities.

This challenge to date is the record high of participants for this competition of apps in the history of the European Commission and Campus Party, endowed with a total of 800,000 € to be split evenly between the finalists and winners of four different challenges.

The challenge Smart Society of FI-WARE consists of an open call for ideas to build applications with the objective of promoting innovative initiatives and disruptive involving benefits to society from various fields and support in the use of the technologies associated with the platform FI-WARE.

Participants from Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, France, India, Italy, Mexico, Peru, United Kingdom and other countries have competed to gain a spot in the final for the FI-WARE challenges. In the case of the challenge Smart Society we have 20 finalists and 2 finalists for Hack for good. They are the following:

Finally, the jury will select the winners of the following awards:

See the finalists of Excellent Challenge by FIWARE

Last April 24th was the deadline for submission of ideas for the FI-WARE Excellence challenge, in which 126 candidates from various nationalities, registered their ideas. This challenge is part of the greater competition of apps in the history of the European Commission and Campus Party, endowed with a total €800,000 to be split evenly between the finalists and winners of four different challenges.

The FI-WARE Excellence challenge was a challenge to develop applications, of open themes, with the only requirement beging that it´s implementation was based on the FI-WARE platform. The objective of this challenge is to reward the projects that make best use of the FI-WARE technology.

Participants from Germany, Greece, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, United Kingdom and other countries have competed to become the next final of the FI-WARE Excellence challenge The finalists are the following:

Extension period for inscriptions for the #FIWARE800k challenges

Many of you have asked us to widen the deadline for submission of ideas to prefect your proposals or prototypes for the 2 new challenges on FI-WARE: Smart Society and FI-WARE Excellence. Therefore…your wish has been granted!

We give you 3 more weeks to work hard and make great projects. The new deadline will be April 24th at 23:59h GMT 1.

We remind you that we are looking for ideas on health, education, social inclusion, etc. for Smart Society (€200,000) and free-themed apps for FI-WARE Excellence (€141,000), only requirement is that its implementation is base on the FI-WARE platform.

The world celebrates the 25th anniversary of Internet. Will you join?

The 12th of March, Tim Berners-Lee will blow the twenty-five virtual candles representing the birth of the World Wide Web and we want all the campuser@s of the world to united to this party and among us all, each can contribute a little bit on protecting the freedom of the web.

We want this anniversary to have a meaning that goes beyond a simple birthday. The initiative #web25 seeks to generate a debate in which all people around the world have access to Internet, maintaining the rights of the users as well as, finding the balance between freedom, privacy and security, among other key aspects.

Winners of the FI- WARE challenges

Campus Party Brazil has been the stage of the celebration of the FI- WARE challenges finale. Forty teams from 23 different countries as diverse as U.S. , Venezuela , Ecuador , Belgium, Portugal  or Spain took part.

During the event, the teams improved their prototypes and presented their projects to a jury, composed of developers FI- WARE platform, and other experts, who evaluated each of the proposals. From these projects, we got the winners of the biggest app challenge called by the European Commission and Campus Party.

On February 1 the challenge winners were announced:

Two new FI-WARE challenges with 400,000€ in prizes are launched in Campus Party Brazil

The 7th edition of Campus Party Brazil opened its doors yesterday. During the opening ceremony, Paco Ragageles announced the launch of two new FI-WARE challenges: Smart Society and FI- WARE Excellence. As the first two challenges, the competition is open world-wide to all developers.

"Medellin challenges you to rethink the city " has winners!

The Mayor of Medellin and Future Networks , through Campus Labs , give our heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the "Medellin challenges you to rethink the city" challenge.

More than 100 campuseros have signed up to this challenge and taken part with their ideas to make an even more innovative Medellín city in the areas of mobility, safety and health.

The winner of the best idea in the “Mobility” category is Miguel Andrés Casas Perea. The project consists of a mobile app to access to the public bicycles system and bike paths of the city way in an agile way.

The winner of the best idea in the “Security”category is Johan Manuel de Aguas Pérez , with daSMe open data project .

The winner for the best idea in the category of Health is John Edison Muñoz Cardona, with a project to help the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.

Each winner will receive a prize of five million Colombian pesos.

We have the winner of M-Inclusion Apps4change 2 challenge!

M-Inclusion and Futura Networks would like to congratulate Javier Gonzalo, the winner of M-Inclusion’s Apps4Change second challenge, for his application MicroHealth.

  The prize is a trip to Campus Party Brazil, which will take place in Sao Paulo in January 2014. The prize includes a return ticket, lodging with the M-Inclusion team and board.

With the cooperation of the Government of Medellín, Campus Party Colombia 2013 launches a challenge where we encourage you to submit your idea for improving the city. The winner idea in each category will receive 1,900 €. Winners of the challenge “Vuelve a leer con Mincultura”

With the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia we launched a contest in Campus Party in which we encouraged our campuseros to submit an idea to create a platform compatible with iOS, Whindows Phone, Symbian OS, Android, Blackberry and Websites, focused on promoting interactive literacy, in order to encourage an environment of discussion and participation around users’ s literary creations and their reading, at different levels.

Participants were required to submit documentation, diagrams, schemes, designs, or a set of all including any additional material that could help deepening in the description of the platform.

We evaluated the feasibility of the project in developing the concept, presenting a prototype of the platform and the easiness of understanding the operation and the return provided to users.

The participants had to submit a concept for the development of a platform that could serve the National Library and the National Network of Public Libraries to promote reading and writing, as well as the recovery of local heritage - environmental and cultural - in Colombia, through the interaction between its users.

The concept had to be original, innovative and specifically created for the competition. Any idea submitted to any other competition of the same kind or similar was admitted to this contest.

The Jury’s final decision awarded the project:

Creation, Publishing and Discussion Portal to promote Colombian literary culture presented by Pablo Figueroa, Juan Carlos Buitrago, Nicolas Mendoza Ruiz and David Santiago Diaz Gallego.
