I wish people would want to know more about me sometimes. About how I’m gonna go to college for journalism, or how I started collecting dolls. About how we have the facts and we’re voting yes saved my life, or about how banana yoshimoto weaves together perfect stories. Anything outside of me just being ‘quiet’.

main thing wrong with a lot of straight men is they hate fashion and refuse style but use porn regularly in secret (the furtiveness, the love-hate being the main problem, the repressed and cheaply instrumentalized phantasmagoria of flesh), which primes them to see the body as a disposable garment but the dressing as eternal. But not in the fake ‘zen’ detached way of conquering mortality. Just a blindness to signs. So much looking but so little seen.

in a lot but not all cases, the more specified and subtle (refined) a man’s tendency to fashion-connected paraphilia is, the less unpleasant he generally is. (Incomplete mourning, I think, makes for the necessary conditions to feel love fully at all. A center of melancholia makes for a better lover).

It is an unfortunate compromise maybe, but the object fetish is a lesser evil than “I am just porn-brained with no visual anchor, no object removed from the body to remind me this is all not real.” I don’t know how to express this properly? But maybe gay men prove this even better? Their tendency to better understand porn as something silly and tragic, fashion as much more serious and truthful.

when you practice kindness and i mean seriously, consciously choose it over and over again, it shows. that kind of selfless love etches itself into your laugh lines, steeps like a teabag until your words are inherently graceful. sometimes we spit out that choice through gritted teeth, but late at night when time stands still, the universe kisses your eyelids and promises you twice the love in return.
