You know what drives me absolutely crazy? If they had just dropped the 'd in I'd, this would literally be confirmation, that Lucy is dead.

There is a MAJOR difference between "Of course I remember you, Luce. " and "Of course I'd remember you Luce."

But NO!! Klei likes to drive me insane by giving me just enough to nudge me into a certain direction I think will lead to the end of the maze, only to find ten different forks in the road and multiple of them lead back to the start.

Like is she actually a woman haunting an axe, and she's concerned that Woodie will forget her eventually??

Or is she just an axe questioning her own mortality and how Woodie would react if she were gone??

Is she dead but he's deep in denial like OP said??

Or is Woodie aware she's dead but just reassuring her that he won't forget her despite her not being alive anymore??

Is she not even dead but he's affirming he'll still remember her if she leaves??
