Opened Tumblr to find everyone freaking out over the live action movie which. Fair, can’t say I’m surprised can’t say I don’t understand can’t say I didn’t do it when I first heard about it too. But as someone who made peace with it after remembering that I have been/am a massive fan of a lot of other live action adaptations even when they’re not amazing (as long as they’re fun/creative that’s all I need), it’s also a little funny to watch the chaos

early ninjago is so delightfully batshit. magic elemental weapons exist. so do powerlines. so does blacksmithing as a valid and profitable profession. also video games. also people regularly buy samurai gear. also there IS an entire modern city but also 90% of the population lives in tiny villages with no running water. but with power lines. there is an underworld full of skeletons. those skeletons aren’t dead people they’re just skeletons

honestly the majority of my ninjago opinions are just chasing the high of the kind of show that can just DECIDE out of nowhere androids that are so high tech they completely pass as humans exist and it fuckin works and fits seemlessly. the kind of worldbuilding i like to see. this explains a lot about my taste in media huh

Other notes about Ninjago

There is just magic tea for everything including turning into an octopus/squid (I don’t remember)

An entire race of snake people that had a huge historic civil war were imprisoned underground for only 40 years until a 10 year old opened the door and they tried to wage war again, but they got stuck in a hole under the city and decided just to live there. They now exist peacefully underground, mostly unbothered by the extreme conflict happening upon the surface.

There is a magic spell that sends people to hell.

God’s son loves ferris wheels

The mailman has a bike that can fly

The snakes can bite cars and make them car themed

The sacred magic weapons can turn into motorcycles

A pirate gang were resurrected and are currently in jail

So yeah I started TMNT 2012 and my brain is consumed by the hc that Leo thinks it’s really cute that humans have hair on their arms + legs n’stuff. He calls it ‘fur’ no matter how many times Donnie corrects him
