Canadian Eskimo Dog
Canadian Eskimo dogs are primitive dogs, they have a very high prey drive and they are incredibly tough, stoical characters. For a long time they have been bred to work as sled dogs. They are originally arctic dogs so they are motivated by work and they don’t involve themselves in different casual activities.
However, they are gentle and known to be very loyal companions, they play with children and protect their families. Nowadays, they are being raised as affectionate companion animals and are known for developing a unique bond with their owner.
Since this breed is well suited for outdoor living and they have a higher prey drive than many similar breeds. They should be supervised around cats and other household pets to prevent any harm that might happen. They are described by many people as being naturally submissive. That they tend to defer to humans rather than challenge them.
It is not easy to provide the right environment for this breed; as these dogs are outdoor animals and are highly active creatures. They were bred to work so it’s hard for them not to dog owners involved in sledding or skijoring may be able to provide the right environment for these dogs, and they might benefit from them as well.
