Astrology Notes III: Water Signs Edition

Pisces ascendants are so underrated. People really project this notion that they can be very... "in their head" and just not here. While that can ring true for most cases, remember, they have Aries in their 2nd house, Taurus in their 3rd house, Leo in the 6th house, and Capricorn 11th house. I am listing these houses specifically because this can paint the picture that yes, Pisces ascendants can entertain and be what I mentioned earlier, but they also have that natural drive to be successful on their own and independent. That third house allows them to see their goals through AND can spin the situation in their favor because they can see the loopholes from how analytical they are. With Leo and Capricorn in the 6th and 11th houses respectively, they know how to use their charm and wit to network! Bonus points if they have outer planets in these houses as well, because that helps them to really see the bigger picture and hone in on the details/what's important as well. Never underestimate this ascendant sign. We act dumb, but we really know what's going on. As cliche as that is, it works every single time.

Cancer ascendants, can be seen as "intimidating" in my opinion because of their 3rd house in Virgo. They see what's going on but also are not afraid to call people out as well. But having such a thought pattern can also contribute to them being labeled as the "mom friend" because of Virgo's archetype of being of service. With their 10th house being in Aries, people see how much they work and how they often initiate things and take the lead. This can also contribute to the "intimidation" I mentioned earlier. Aquarius in the 8th house can make them more open-minded than one thinks. This can also make them develop a deep detached energy as well. Not to mention that they are also crackheads once you get really comfortable with them. With Gemini in the 12th house, they can often have racing thoughts and whoever that one extremely close friend is, you are their personal soundboard. As a thank you, they make sure to take care of you. With Taurus in their 11th house, they pay very close attention to their friends' preferences. This can also make them the gift giver friend, (if they remember to gift you something).

Scorpio ascendants are very charming naturally. With Libra in the 12th house, they may be unaware of how that flirty energy just emanates from them. Taurus in their 7th house means that their one-on-one relationships must be comfortable to them and provide them some sort of stability. Virgo in the 11th house makes them very picky about who they have their friendships with. Leo in their 10th house can't help but attract people. I noticed that these people either walk with their head up high or they don't at all. With Sagittarius in their second house, they can be very lucky with their finances, as the universe often just blesses them with opportunities to get money, or even just drop some $$$ in their account outta nowhere. Like Pisces ascendants, they have an earth sign in their third house, which is in Capricorn, so they definitely are able to stick to a goal and complete it to a T.

Pisces suns are so chaotic, just like their sister sign. While Virgos hold caution above circumstances, Pisces are more lenient than that. They often just let the universe take them on a whim, unless they have earth placements. They'll be a bit more grounded and...well...chaotic too but more internally chaotic. I notice that these people often go through the day unaware of how they ended up feeling what they feel. It is important to protect yourself from other people's energies and not let anything from them get to you. These people personally remind me of hippies.

Scorpio suns are always interesting to talk to! Even if they seem like they don't have dark humor, if you crack a dark joke, they'll still laugh with you about it. These people are very much in tune with their shadow side as well as the world. They still hold an air of privacy to them which even if they overshare (a rare occurrence), you still don't remember much about them. You'll often find these people go silent when going through something but will definitely emerge as someone completely different. They take privacy to a whole different level.

Cancer suns are, in my opinion, a hit or miss. It depends on the other placements. I noticed that people who have this placement paired with Gemini or Aquarius placements are more often than not, more logical sometimes to the point of their own detriment. Those who have this sun but with Libra placements can be people pleasers, or just may not speak up enough. But when they do, it sends a whole shock wave. Cancer suns with earth placements are also like the suns with air placements, they just remain more stoic which can kind of creep people out.

Pisces moons are more indecisive than Libra moons. They stay stuck in their head and often develop analysis paralysis more than Libra moons. All the latter does is weigh pros and cons and come to a consensus on what is best for them (they can also get caught up in analysis paralysis, but they know how to see the facts better). You ask a Pisces moon, they'll just stare at you as they're zoning out. But their intuition is also on point to the point that it's scary. Never try to betray a Pisces moon, because they can see your bs coming from a mile away. My favorite people to be around.

Scorpio moons are very very intriguing. Their intuition is also spot on because they have a natural eye for recognizing patterns that encourage harm and division. Despite being a water sign, they're very logical as well. Emphasis if it's at 22 degrees. Or 20 degrees, or even 8 degrees. Like their solar counterparts, these people are comfortable with their shadow side and they often have immaculate dark humor. ( I am saying immaculate because I often find their darker humor hilarious). People often see this placement as very flighty as well but that's because the energy wasn't matching with the words or the actions. I also find it interesting that they can get grumpy because of how fast their battery drains. So if you wonder why Scorpio moons are the way they are, that's one plausible reason. Another reason could be, as cliche as it sounds, their mother had a comfortable time showing them the darker side so they know how to operate from that, which isn't necessarily the norm for the rest of us, so it can spook people who aren't used to that side.

Cancer moons are really the epitome of a mom friend. Why do I also feel like this placement gets a little butt hurt if their friends reject something that they offer? Like I had a friend who has an 8th house cancer moon, and she offered me some lip balm but I didn’t take it because it was flavored and I would have ended up licking it off of my lips (so basically eating it😭) and she was like “FINE😝🙃.” Something told me she was offended or whatever even though she said that in a jokingly manner. (this is just my experience, it will not be like that for EVERY cancer moon). But these people will tell you how they feel straight up, front and center. But they can also use their emotions to get people to do a certain thing for them. They’re so in tune with their emotions and because of that, they’ll strongly express that feeling which can offset people who aren’t into strong expression like that. But on the bright side, they’re such amazing people because they genuinely know how to nurture their significant others. I love that for them! They’ll understand people but they do have that Capricorn opposition (their sister sign basically), so they can be stoic and withholding at times as well, like a Capricorn moon.

Scorpio Mercuries are veryyy interesting. From my experience, they will ask questions. They have this natural interrogation to them, and they’re proud about it. That’s one placement that will truly get to the bottom of things no doubt. I love the sound of their voice (it conjuncts my Venus), and they really make me question things and ponder. Cancer Mercuries, are interesting. Last year in December I had an idea.

It was THIS post (thank you @astrologeee for inspiring me) that made me think, I should actually teach astrology the way it should be taught: not by throwing dry concepts and cookbook definitions at people, but by explaining why some things are the way they are and break down the mechanics behind astrological delineations.

And because of my intermittent (not to say erratic) nature, I'm not great at chart readings because I do things when I feel like doing them, not when I have to - this is why for the past few weeks I fully devoted myself to writing and illustrating a book - so I can give you a finished product that you can get anytime you want - it's here and ready to read. Also, I think it's a perfect way to go through my 9th house profection year and a 3rd house Jupiter transit (that is loooots of writing and a finished publication).

"Studying the stars: the basis of understanding and analyzing astrology"

The book contains all new material, except for the chapter on houses that I took from my two blog posts. You get full sections on planets, signs, aspects, houses etc + a chapter on how to put things together - I'm dissecting exemplary planetary placements, aspects between them + more.

I think it would be a perfect starting point for those, who are just getting into astrology, but I'm hoping those of you, who are already deep into it will find something interesting in this book as well.

Venus twelfth house overlay: sorry y’all, in my personal experience, it’s true what they say. The twelfth house person has a hard time feeling this overlay on their side, or on a very subconscious level. I was the 12th house person. On one hand, I really ‘got it’ so to say but on the other hand, I don’t have a shitty clue how he picked up on this ‘thing between us’ he thought or picked up on we had. That’s actually the big thing about this overlay. Moon trine pluto: you know when the fighting super intense troubled couple FINALLY gets together in this really intense and satisfying time when things are finally going the way they’re planned? Like an end all all good? That is this overlay, but constantly. On the outside, it’s the annoyingly passionate/emotional couple in a series that you don’t get because you haven’t seen them do any work to deserve this kind of intense fan-service scene. It’s because it lacked that kind of character development? It was me watching avengers infinity war with vision and wanda. I didn’t like the couple because i didn’t get it. I didn’t know their history i thought it was just some random very bland peaceful couple being very dramatic about each other all the time. Another example (i’m not shitting on this aspect i swear 😂) when a cartoon shows an example of a ‘romantic movie scene’ where the couple says “i loove you!!” And the other goes “oh bill!!” You don’t swoon because you’re like… okay. You get the oogies/ick because it’s like ‘ew that’s a couple’ anyways what I’m trying to say is that moon and pluto are not typical besties they’re supposed to be two problems kind of, they’re two very intense and bare planets, so harmonious flowing energy between them will feel kind of unsettling? Even. So these people will be kind of ‘gross’ with each other but in a soothing way. It’s how you imagine such a trine to be, but it plays out exactly like this irl too lmao! It feels bland on the outside because it’s always going well. Sun conjunct mars: I call this the ‘spicy friends’ aspect. This is the aspect of two people who get into shenanigans together. I also see this aspect a lot with romantic couples who got together young, because it makes for boy-girl relations where the boy actually gets motivated by the person the girl is and the girl feels understood on the same level by the boy. They don’t get bored and so these people will forever get on or be aggravated by each other. Sun conjunct venus: unlike mars, venus is a cold planet, which is totally okay in a synastry, only the interaction plays out a little different. Sun and venus don’t fire off each other. Their influence on each other is more passive. The sun, how basic it may sound, warms venus or even makes them burn. Venus gives the sun person chills. The venus person is responsible for the harmony and awesome functionality that this aspect brings. They will take a step back to fully adore and admire sun from afar sometimes. The sun will run to venus basically when it needs love and aesthetic and also a kind of sensibility that the sun person misses, like a puzzle piece. Sun brings heat and passion that the venus craves. Mars in twelfth house synastry or composite: with this placement, you’re not even sure if the person is actually even attracted to you and if you’re making it all up in your head. This is also typically seen as a ‘synastry/composite of secrets’ which I wasn’t so sure about at the time I experienced this one myself, but now I realise, hey, that man actually had a girlfriend while he was giving me ‘special attention’ while holding back, with me being like ‘what could he mean what could he MEAN’ typical mars in twelfth scenario. One guy I had this with in composite was basically lying to me about his sex life and not having cheated on his previous girlfriend… and guess what… I had lied about my sexual history too 😭 I even thought to myself ‘why the f*ck did I lie that elaborately??? I didn’t even have to??’ But whatever, it’s the way of the worlds apparently 😂 but you see how this immediately creates distrust when it is not actually what we mean to do or coming from a place of disrespect. We’d only kissed once Monthsss before which is basically nothing in western european student culture. It was like: “does this person know I’m still attracted to/like him/her? Am I making this all up in my head?”

Moon in the 8th house: a lot has been said about this aspect. Just a few things: intensity, yes. Either one will always be a significant person for the rest the person’s lives. It’s not nothing. It’s the basis of real all consuming love that’s a very rare and unique mix between total safety and total rush-like danger, which makes people think it’s a soulmate aspect. It’s actually not, imo, it’s a deeply (deeeeply) karmic aspect. It’s funny to see all the friends with benefits who have this aspect start out as “lol we don’t want a relationship” to “……. Lol nevermind” and end up together. They go back to each other because they’re simply too significant to each other. Fear of being vulnurable is also big on both so they either take that step or they’re just standing there forever. Mutual aspect, but it’s mutual in different ways. Truthfully, I don’t see this aspect so often in relationship charts. A beginner's guide to Vedic Astrology

1. Vedic astrology is based on a very different way of perceiving the world. It will take some time to get used to it but be patient. Its not as quick and easy to compartmentalize as western/tropical astrology. it addresses the human condition in all its nuance and complexity. It will take you a lot of time to understand even one nakshatra but this is normal and part of the process. Avoid looking at twitter/tumblr posts that try to tropicalize Vedic astrology by giving really weird takes with 0 context or explanation. Read blogs and articles, do a google deep dive, there are many websites run by Indian astrologers who will provide you with good introductions to your chart/naks.

2. There are 27 nakshatras divided over 12 rashis, these come under the rulership of 8 planets and are further classified on the basis of their aim, tattva, ganas, yoni animal, function etc. Familiarize yourself with the mythology of your naks and their basic classification. This is the most accessible starting point for a newbie.

3. Zodiac does not automatically become redundant in the Vedic system. They are called "rashi" and each rashi houses 2 or more nakshatras.

4. 90% of the time the moon occupies only ONE nakshatra over the course of one day. its UNCOMMON for the moon to occupy more than one nakshatra in one day. if you don't have someone's birth time and use 12 noon as the standard time (which is common practice since its right in the middle of the day with 12 hours behind and 12 hours ahead) 90% their moon sign will be correct. Since the ascendant changes every hour or so, its hard to narrow it down unless you know the person and can make an educated guess.

ive seen people argue that xyz is ashwini moon instead of bharani moon etc and please go to a good vedic birth chart generating site (i recommend either astro seek or faraway) and you can check their birth chart for every hour of the day of their given birthday if you have the time. the MOON STAYS IN THE SAME NAKSHATRA OVER THE COURSE OF ONE DAY!!!! its RARE for it to be in the preceding or following nak and it usually only happens for a VERY small window of time.

5. if you can, just get your chart read by someone who knows their stuff. avoid consuming the misinformation rampant on twitter/tumblr.

6. approach Vedic astrology with an open mind. many websites will tell you you're a horrible person with zero luck , jealous and doomed to live in perpetual misery but please understand that these come from the narrowness of their own knowledge and understanding. any wisdom possessed by an individual has to pass through their filter of perception in order to be written down. astrology is not a doomsday machine tool condemning some and glorifying others. do not make a religion out of this. think of your birth chart as something that provides context as to why you are the way you are. don't let it be something that holds you back.

7. please don't randomly pick up tantric practices and chant mantras or perform rituals just because you know a little bit about vedic astrology. this is a whole new turf and these practices can be life changing if done right but disastrous if done wrong. trust your intuition, always. i hate that tiktok/social media etc has made witch craft/magick/esoteric occult rituals look like some quirky, "woo woo" thing that anyone can do. please stay safe ya'll <33 don't blindly follow others <33
