morning routines for dogs
do you got that #dog in you but dont know how to resonate with it? here are some methods you can try ^_^
start waking up like a dog! stretch hard (full-body bow if you can), shake off sleep, immediately check out the window, and sniff the fresh air if you can!
eat your meals with no distractions (that means put your phone away) and savor it like it's the best thing you've ever tasted! really pay attention to the tastes and smells of it and tie it back to familiar tastes in nature -- for example, if you're eating peanut butter toast, think about how it smells like the inside of an old tree where squirrels hide their nuts!
lick your lips every few bites while you're at it
sit/lie in a patch of sunlight for at least 5 minutes. change your position so you can sunbathe wherever the sun feels the most comfortable. if you feel safe where you are, lay on your back!
scavenge for snacks and hide them for later!
be sure to drink a lot of water. lap it from a bowl (or cup) with quick, eager tongue flicks. feel how cold it is and how it quenches like a body of water you'd find in the forest!
consider having something chewy available, be it a chew toy or a snack around for when you're stressed or just need something to gnaw on. (lots of breakfast foods can be great for this, like bacon or jerky!)
take a short walk if able where you're guided by nothing but following interesting smells. pause at every intriguing scent (grass, food, rain, whatever.)
symbolically mark your territory: kick up grass where you've been, press your palm against a tree, etc.
take home trophies with you! sticks, rocks, trinkets, etc.
