What cool thing have you taught your animal using Refection Training!
The months of January and February can seem so long. I find myself counting the days until the daylight lengthens. There is one perk about the dark at 5pm day. The windows of the room become mirrors! This is such a great feature when it comes to building strong cues, independent of your orientation to the dog. I relish the ability to face away from the dog while observing her response in the reflection of the window. This can create awesome communication between us. The dog learns to listen/watch for cues when the handler appears to be otherwise engaged. Sounds like the real world environment we might expect our behavior to hold up in upon completion. I implemented Reflection Training in the Piggyback trick in the video. I was able to observe Liz's start position reflected in the window in front of me and check her landing stance reflected in the doors and windows on my list and right.
The next time you are staring out into the darkness through your window, shift your gaze to the glass' reflection of your beloved companion who might enjoy some Refection Training! #trickdog
