Hey! I love Kid so much! I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about Rick and Daryl’s backstory. I love the idea of them being high school/childhood besties and Rick’s family sorta taking him in.

With TWD ending, I’ve realized that I need exactly one thing from this garbage fire show: I need Rick to find his goddamn family. I haven’t been watching regularly since Glenn died, really, but I fucking need Michonne to reunite with her husband, I need Judith and RJ to know their Dad, and I fucking NEED Daryl to find Rick because he looked for him for fucking YEARS after his “death” and Daryl fucking DESERVES to know that Rick is alive, that they both made it.

Honestly, I wish I didn’t even give this one last fuck about the show, because I bet tptb have something farrrr edgier and shittier planned.

Bonus points for anyone else in Team Family being in on the reunion, especially Carol (seems the most likely), Maggie, Rosita, and/or Aaron.

Bonus points with a huge-ass side of shock if Aaron doesn’t die brutally sometime before the end of the show.

I’ve been trying to struggle my way through another WIP, Kid, and then I’m hoping to do the same with Silence. Fingers crossed. It’s taken... fucking forever, but I’m actually making progress on a couple of things.

How does this work?

I do plan to continue updating, but my pace is glacially slow at the moment and I don’t know if it’ll pick up. I’m pretty bummed out over the show in general, but I like my fics and I hate the idea of leaving them hanging, especially when someone reminds me that a few people might, y’know, actually care and want an ending XD

I love Reunion sooooo much. First fic I read of yours then got obsessed with your writing and read everything on ao3 within a week. Do you think you’ll get around to updating reunion (or kid)? You’re so talented it honestly hurts. The way you write Daryl is just absolutely perfect I’m so impressed. : )

Ahhh thank you so so much!! Compliments kind of make me want to light myself on fire, and this one in particular is 🔥😫🔥 I just updated Kid tonight. I’m still working on all my WIPs, but it’s slow going at the moment. I found myself getting bummed out every time I thought about the show or fandom, and it really wasn’t a healthy way to spend my tiny amount of free time, so I’ve been taking a break. We’ll see where things go, but I’ll try to work on Reunion a bit next ❤️

Is it just me or is the reason for the Desus Tag dying down both here and on AO3 due to people being de-pressed cause of the show, and not cause people actually abandoned the ship?

Cause that’s how I feel and I’m wondering if others do too 😆🙏

I think that’s a definite it’s part of it- at least for me. And as a fic writer I notice it mostly there.

Before I abandoned the show (one episode before IT happened), I was posting two chapters a week. Afterwards I lost a lot of motivation. And then every posting about it (mine included, and I’m NOT dissing any of them, or anyone who was right down there with me writing them) was sad and pissed off and angry. It was all very valid, but at least for me it sucked whatever energy I had for focusing on it right out of me. If I wasn’t writing a big ass AU that had so little to do with the show, I probably would’ve stopped writing it entirely, 200,000 words in or not.

But still, it took me a few weeks to drag my way back into working on it. It was a slogfest, and it probably shows (eek!) but I’m finally getting past the deep mourning phase. :)

Coming out of my hiatus to say, I think this is exactly it @abigailht. I love the ship and everyone I’ve met here, I’ve missed chatting with friends these last few weeks, I want to finish my fics, etc., but the show honestly made me really angry and depressed for MONTHS. I tried really hard, but found I couldn’t really separate the ship from canon sufficiently to just let it go and have fun with the ship.

This might not be as much of an issue if I had other relaxing hobbies in my life right now, but between work and being a parent, writing is the only thing I’m finding time for. So basically I realized that I was spending my SUPER limited free time essentially reimmersing myself in my bitterness towards the show, on an almost daily basis. Not healthy. This is absolutely no one’s fault but my own, and hopefully taking some space will help me see the fun in it all again. I still plan to finish my WIPs and be around for Prodigal Son, but taking a break has been really good for me so far--highly recommend it if you need one <3

Love you guys. Prayer circle that Prodigal Son is amazing!

I’ve never really thought of this before, but it’s actually true for me as well. The most encouraging, positive comments I’ve ever received on anything I’ve done have been from readers on AO3 (and on fanfiction.net). I’ve also received a few really nice ones here, on Tumblr.
