Everything was suddenly happening very fast. The Mimikyus dragged Cet through the store, not seeming to care what he got knocked into. Yoichi struggled to get up, but it felt like something was trying to hold him back and pull him down again. A shelf from across the room started hurtling towards him and he barely managed to dive out of the way. “Got some problems of my own right now, buddy.” Whatever had been keeping him down let go, but shelves were rearranging and flying towards him at an alarming rate.
“Aren’t these things supposed to be fucking drilled into the floor, what kind of shit is this?” Yoichi was practically dancing out of the way of the shelves as they slammed in to each other; it seemed to take ages for him to reach Cet without getting mutilated by the heavy objects flying around. He grabbed Cet’s free hand and yanked him out of the ground. As soon as Cet was on his feet the chaos around them ceased entirely.
“Well, that was fun. We should probably leave now befo–” Both of them sunk through the ground and popped up on the other side still standing. “Are we…upside down or…is that right side up?” There were trees directly next to them, but also tree directly below them. Further away there were waterfalls that didn’t seem to be flowing in any particular direction. “Where did those little bastards go?” He whipped around looking for the Mimikyus but they were nowhere to be found.
“Aw what the shit, where the hell did they take us?” He looked down at his watch and saw that his watch was no longer counting the seconds. “Oh well, at least I have a valid excuse to not work now. ‘Sorry boss but I got sucked into what was probably hell for a few hours and there was nothing I could do about it.’ Yeah, that sounds good.”
Gritting his teeth, Cet was screeching internally, and probably externally too. The prospect of perishing wasn’t one he was averse to; everyone had to kick the bucket eventually. But if these Pokemon were going to do it, you’d think they’d have to decency to do it quick. Now he had to struggle and try to make it out alive. He wasn’t sure if being in once piece was an option, what with part of his hip sinking through the floor as well.
Watching as Yoichi ducked and wove between a funhouse of flying metal and glass, he had his free hand flash a brief thumbs up. “Take your time! I’m not going anywhere.” I hope.
He watched as Yoichi bobbed his way over like an absolute champ, and let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding once the office yanked him from the void. On his knees, Cet poked his arm, seeing if it was useable.
Everything seemed to be in order, and he looked up at Yoichi to nod. A second later, he felt the ground fall out from under him and he felt a weightlessness in his stomach as gravity vanished. They landed on the ground, but the ground was above them as well. And to the side. Every cardinal direction as a path of land and sea, waterfalls spilling over one ledge only to make an impossible turn at a right angle to fall in a different direction midway through.
“Yoichi, I don’t think we’re in Alola anymore.”
Getting up, he wondered if he’d fall straight off the ground and go plummeting. But his feet stuck. Glancing curiously at the wall next to them and the tree jutting out of the edge, he wondered if he could stand on that side as well. I couldn’t... But what if I could.
Wasting no time, he made a leap, expecting to land on his back. To his amusement, he was able to stick to the wall, now at a perpendicular angle to Yoichi. Eyes shining, he craned his neck to address the cop.
“Wherever we are, it’s pretty neat, don’t you think?”
