There are only around 1,500 native Cherokee speakers left, and most of them are elders
Little Cherokee Seeds is a program where mothers and babies spend all day with first language Cherokee speakers, speaking nothing but Cherokee, so that the babies become a new generation of native speakers. They're also teaching traditional skills and mothering practices to the mothers to pass on.
This is so so important for the survival of the language. These babies are on track to being fluent first language speakers, and they will be able to keep the language going for another lifetime.
I recommend checking out the little cherokee seeds facebook page!!
Here's how you can support little cherokee seeds!! They take donations through PayPal and Venmo!!

I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.
Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.
pov: you’ve been transported to the 17th century
#in the article it says that the sailboat sailors were concerned because they could not be towed quickly because of the kind of boat#so they asked Götheborg what type of ship they were and warned that they would not be able to go above a certain speed#and götheborg went ' we are also a sailboat. 50 meters length. no worries :) '#and the poor sailboat sailors were just like ' That's not possible. they have to be messing with us' and then the ship Rolled Up (via bunjywunjy)
i learned that the world record for the loudest thing ever shouted belongs to an Irish female teacher who shouted the word “quiet” at 121 decibels, the equivalent of a jet engine (x)
DISGUSTANG
oh my god?
Okay please read this whole article because there is important information in ther, including;
1. She never yells at her students- her record breaking 121 decibel shout happened during an event she’d been invited to. She was defending her title after setting the previous shouting record during a competition at a church camp, where she got to 119.4 decibels
2. The only reason she entered the first competition was because her twin sister had entered and was about to win with a shout of 119.1 decibels.
3. They took her to an expert to try to understand how she shouted so very loud and his conclusion was that her supernatural volume was fueled entirely by her need to beat her sister.
That’s just how siblings are.
It really is
New fave tweet
A lot of non footy mutuals has been asking abt their dynamic and this is my answer
Your daily dose of cat memes
Wild that folks keep saying beekeepers abuse bees as if bees are not both venomous flying animals and fully unionized
Hubris to think you COULD abuse bees
I think that if you see a balrog in an unlocked kitty kennel then you can assume that it wants to be there
I'm sorry this is the funniest Reddit thread xD
@sergio-para-siempre :
Germans. That’s it, that’s the tweet.
Im sorry that I choose my favs with my pussy and not my moral compass. Wish I could be as boring as the rest of you
@freekicks Posts like this are why I hope you never leave tumblr.
Under socialism buses won't have ads on them but they will each have a name and a unique livery and interior and we will romanticise them like ships
They decommission the bus I’ve been using for 15 years and I come home to cry dramatically about how they’re killing my boy, my poor boy who’s only crime is being an old boy in a younger, faster world. I am inconsolable for weeks. There is a beautiful funeral/recycling service, people pour out drinks and throw lilies upon his temporary memorial. I say there will never be another like him. I immediately fall in love with the new bus and everyone around me realizes they will have to deal with this exact level of theatrics about once a decade.
if I’m talking to a wheel of time fan and they say that they hate Elayne Trakand… I’m sorry but that’s a red flag
another red flag: “I hate Egwene she’s so arrogant” and then in the same breath “I LOVE Rand!!!”
@sixth-light haaaa. I did have a hard time with Elayne at first, while adoring Nynaeve, Siuan, Aviendha and even Cadsuane from the word go. I think it’s that with both Elayne and later Faile, it took several books to get a Pov chapter. So we weren’t on the inside with their journey, we just had the exterior.
Elayne became interesting to me when she started doing magical engineering (super-cool), and tromping around with the trap-Moghedian group.
Faile only became interesting to me once she got captured by the splinter Aiel group, which is late on. I really like the scene where she & the others meet privately to mourn their captors, & process the complex relationships they had with them.
You're telling me a gar* licked this bread?
