Canned Responses is another great feature in Gmail. It is hidden up in the menu bar under Settings -> Labs. They are basically templates where you can have pre-written emails for things you respond to often. As it says in the description, it’s email for the truly lazy ;-)

If you are using a tool like Google Calendar where you can have multiple calendars layered on top of each other, consider pulling in the calendar from an organization where you always need to take into account their schedule of events. For instance, your children's school.
