It had been a challenge, getting dressed and out of the house on time, and getting to the meeting spot without Ryan blowing a fuse. Bianca was eternally grateful to Pandora, who was quite possibly the most supportive and sneakiest best friend she could ever ask for, for helping her get dressed and guiding her to the plaza where she’d agreed to meet Emory.

Because today, due to the fact Ryan hated going near clothing stores, she had requested Emory’s help in aiding her quest for more clothes!

"I hope he gets here soon…!"

She had been looking forward to today for so long, after all. She’d even arrived earlier, due to how excited she was. Shopping was a favourite hobby of hers, after all, and spending time with Emory was rare in itself.

Was it childish to admit that he had been so excited he'd barely slept? Which was quite a shock for Emory, seeing as he was almost always asleep if he wasn't writing music or with his family.

Bianca just gave him those kinds of feelings. He wondered if he gave her those too, but he highly doubted it and, either way, pushed those feelings to the side.

So as long as he was always by her side, watching her smile, then he was fine.

Though, he didn't expect her to be there already when he got there. He even left early too so...?

Ah.

Dork.

He couldn't help but smile, doing his best to hide the expression with his hand as he walked over, though he let his hand fall to reveal it for just a second before he returned to a blank, sleepy look as usual.

"Ready to go?" He asked as he lifted a hand to gently pat her head, uncaring as to whether Ryan knew and had stalked them all the way here. But he doubted it. He made sure Aria knew exactly where Ryan would be today.

All day.

Wolfram hastily retrieved Friedrich from the other’s arms and spared no moment in clicking his companion’s jaw shut. He was relieved that the skull was back in his arms, right where he belonged. No more out of you, the boy thought to himself, We don’t need any more trouble.

Eighteen? That was an enormous family to keep track of; it was more than double the size of his own. In fact, he couldn’t even imagine knowing eighteen people. In fact, he’d only encountered eleven in his life. 

"I’ve met Herr Lars…" It was surprising how much self-confidence Lars could inspire. Meeting him made Wolfram feel like he could do a lot of things he never even thought of doing before. "And… Miss Raine, if she counts…" There was still so much mystery about her. In fact, there was a lot of mysteries and intricacies about this entire web of people that Wolfram wanted to uncover. But he’s not entitled to stick his nose into other people’s business. And when he heard Emory’s warning, it only supported that line of thinking.

"I understand," he replied, although he was loathe to let it actually sink it. It figures that whenever he had a chance to try and connect with something, it gets taken away. The only constant voice in his life is Friedrich and—

"Mm?" Wolfram didn’t even notice he was unconsciously thumbing over Friedrich’s parietal bone until he felt a crack. Friedrich, anticipating what he was thinking, spoke up.

"Don’t even think about tryin’ to fix it. It’s just a small nick. Ain’t worth bringin’ out that psycho for it."

Right… There was that. It could be left for another time. The current priority was the intimidating demigod in front of him.

"Sir von Friedhof. I cannot help who I come across, especially since I do not know all the details about the situation or your family. However, with all due respect, you are not in a position to tell me that without considering the feelings of your brethren." Just because he may not find it to their best interests to develop bonds with others doesn’t mean that the rest of his family thinks the same. After all, it’s human nature to seek out the companionship of others. Doing so otherwise is detrimental to social and emotional development. "Still, I will keep your warning in mind."

Raine? Who the hell was that? He never did catch that girl's name before... the one that hung out with Aulis. Maybe that was Raine. He didn't really know. But if she was from the future too, then he had to find out who her parents were and how they'd, him and the others, protect her. He'd ask Wolfram about her, but he liked a challenge. So he'd leave it at that and find out himself. Besides, he highly doubted the kid could tell him anything worth knowing.

For a moment, Emory was relieved upon hearing "I understand" but upon hearing the rest, he stiffened up; finally showing weakness as fear settled into his eyes.

He was upset. Well, no, that was an understatement. Emory was feeling a whirlwind of things right now. Anger because the kid disobeyed him, someone older and higher up. Worry. Panic. Rage. But more so fear.

Because if this kid's selfishness affected his family in any way to the point of anyone disappearing or getting hurt... He didn't know what he'd do. He lived everyday trying to protect his siblings. He was never living life for himself, at this point. The day he met the other kids from different timelines was when everything went out of place but in a good way!

They weren't directly anything he should've ever met. But when he thought about losing his siblings, his friends, and even disappearing himself, never to be with them again...

He was shaking now. He really was scared. Not because of Wolfram wanting to be friends with any of them - as that wasn't the issue. It was what that could result in that made Emory bite back the urge to cry.

"You... You brat... I won't allow that." His blue eyes shifted gold and red. And, suddenly, he was a completely different person, appearance-wise.

"I won't allow your selfish desires to cost me my family!" There it was. His extreme and fierce temper fueled by his fear of being alone again. Really, he knew he was being childish. A clingy, whiny baby. But after spending days with those loud and energetic idiots, he didn't ever want them to disappear. And he knew anything they did could make them disappear. He, himself, didn't want to disappear. Because then he couldn't be with them, and that's all he wanted, to spend his life with Bianca and Lars and everyone. Even though he complained, he loved watching Lars enjoy himself. Or Bianca get excited when he described the world to her. Or when Aria, Melody, and Harmony sang. And when Cole became an entirely different person when she was talking about something she loved.

He raised a gloved hand to point at Wolfram, though it shook visibly - further showing how scared he was of the other's words and what they entailed, "You think you're strong? You think you can fight me and what I ordered you to do? What? Are you gonna take responsibility if everyone disappears? What the hell am I gonna do if you make that stupid brat, Lars, disappear? What if you make Bianca disappear? I'm not letting you ruin everything. You're not a part of this, you don't understand what's happening in the future!"

"My parents are dead! The sun and moon no longer shift every day and night! It's eternal darkness, war everywhere! This isn't about their feelings! They're my family! And what? What are they to you? Someone you just met? How would you like it if you lost your entire family!? ... Kronos sent us here to prevent that future from happening. To create a world where we can all survive."

"Keep it right in your fucking mind at all times. Because if I lose anyone, I'll find you and show you the wrath of a God. We have each other, we have our future friends. We don't need anything or anyone else. Because I'm sure we can all agree," His eyes narrowed, "no one is more important than each other. Do you think you can worm your way into our circle? You think we can all be friends? It's not gonna work. Go find your place, because it isn't here. Don't put yourself into business that doesn't concern you. We have our lives on the line, our parents' lives on the line. I ain't letting you jeopardize this. I don't care if they're all angry with me later. I don't care if they all hate me! So as long as they're alive and safe, I don't care if I become this entire world's enemy."

On one hand, Friedrich probably deserved the treatment he’s getting from beneath Emory’s foot. But on the other hand, if Friedrich breaks, then…

"I-I met with Sir Laurent," he said in an attempt to sound less pathetic as his eyes kept shifting from Emory to Friedrich. Huh. Wolfram didn’t take Laurent to be the crossdressing type. And he didn’t know that Lars was Emory’s brother either—they were nothing alike. Still, all the things the very intimidating man was saying gave a good bit of insight about him and their large family. "Ah… M-May I please have him back now?" It was starting to feel strange having his arms empty.

He saw that Friedrich was about to open his jaw again to retort, but for once, he managed to send a glare his companion’s way. Being aggressive was definitely not Wolfram’s style. But it gets the job done when he really wants Friedrich to shut up.

Laurent? Huh. He was kinda surprised. Wasn't he always with Ezra, making out and stuff or something? Some "brotherly love" thing. Who knows. He expected Lars to be the one yapping away, as his cousin was typically silent compared to his brother, Lars.

With a swift movement, Emory kicked Friedrich up into the air, catching him easily and handing the skull over to Wolfram. "Keep it's mouth shut with like ducktape or something."

"Laurent, though...? Shocking. He's always so reserved. Picture perfect prince, half royal and half demigod. Literally the heir to all pantheons and the royal kingdom. He can do anything. Honestly, what isn't Laurent good at..." He envied his cousin. But he also knew Laurent had it hard sometimes too, "But I thought Lars would be the one to tell you. He never shuts his damn mouth, it's partly the reason I bail that dumbass out of jail all the time." But he knew Lars did it out of his idea for "justice" or something. Really, the kid did mean well, he just went about it in a rather destructive way.

And since Ryan was now preoccupied with dealing with Emory's other brother, Aria, he couldn't stop that best friend of his all the time. And Bianca couldn't handle Lars either, mostly because Emory was usually stealing her away.

So either way, he'd have to go back and get his brother, or else Aulis and that little girl the kid hangs out with have to deal with Lars. Kind of sad, in a way.

Behind that mask of anger and annoyance, though, Emory really did care about his family. He just had trouble expressing it.

"If you've met Laurent, though, does that mean you've met the rest of us? There's like a whole eighteen if I recall... and with all this shit, who knows if that number will change..." That bit was more to himself than to Wolfram.

But then he looked the kid dead in the eyes and firmly spoke straight to him, "Don't get close to any of us. We're not supposed to be here. Anything we do could make us vanish from existence at any moment in time. We're gonna leave someday, and we can't bring anything that doesn't belong to the future with us. So don't bother, kid. Don't become attached." They were fighting for their lives, for their parents' lives.

They didn't have time to make friends when they barely had enough time to survive themselves.

Ah, mein Gott, Wolfram wailed internally, I hadn’t meant to say his name out loud! And certainly, it turned out to be something he definitely should not have said. At while at the current, Wolfram was fearing for his general life/existence/whatever-it-is-he-had, he certainly hoped it didn’t escalate to the point where he would have to defend himself from Emory because he couldn’t guarantee any safety for either of them.

Knowing what’s at stake, then, what should he say?

"I, um. Encountered someone familiar with you." That should have been good enough, but before Wolfram could further contemplate his next careful moves, he saw something roll into a stop at the side of Emory’s foot.

"What are you, a newborn goat, Wolf? Your fall gave me enough momentum to go all the way by the shrubbery! Just because some lanky hotshot bolts into you, don’t mean you have to go down like a pile of marbles!"

Ach. Of all the luck in the world, why now?

All attention was shifted from Wolfram to the skull at his feet the moment the damn thing called him "some lanky hotshot."

"Tch... You have no fuckin' fear for your undead piece of shit life, do you, you incomplete little prick?" He scowled at the skull, "Call me that again and I'll show you what my demigod powers can do to a pathetic excuse for a creature like you. Scum like you should know how to yield to your betters."

And with that he put his foot atop the thing and rubbed the bottom of his shoe against it harshly. "Piece of trash... I'll make sure Ezra doesn't conduct a revenge tragedy for your missing sorry bony ass." How he wanted to kick the skull into the street and watch it suffer in the middle of cars zooming by in the loud city of Celestion.

However, he recalled that he was talking to this kid and sighed, blue eyes looking back and focusing on Wolfram again.

"Who did you meet exactly? And stop squirming so much. You're a man. Get with it. Unless you crossdress like Laurent or identify as something else like Aunt Artemis, I don't see your deal, kid. You act like a frightened kitten that my brother, Lars, would save from a fuckin' tree."

While the other person had stood his ground during the collision, Wolfram toppled over like a fallen tree. Perhaps it was just him, but he seemed to be crashing into people an awful lot lately.

“E-Entschuldigung,” he apologized in a small voice, pushing himself off from the ground. He wasn’t a fit match for his name, being so easily frightened. But he couldn’t help being meek. Wolfram didn’t have anything around him to be strong against.

As Wolfram stood and moved aside, he caught a name that struck a chord. “Marchen…?” Could this be the person Laurent had been talking about before?! “Marchen… von Friedhof?” And considering the other name he wasn’t familiar with… This could just be…

"…Sir… Emory von Friedhof…?"

What was a kid like this doing knowing his name? Was his family going from the utmost powerful and only associating with such to... knowing kids like this?

He thought Ryan was the grand exception. That nerd. That nerd that his brother was gay for, though.

Gods of all pantheons, help his family.

"Yeah." He finally responded. "I'm Emory. Who told you that?" He didn't recall meeting this kid before, so it meant someone he knew told him about him. Did his family ever shut up? They weren't supposed to talk about the future, it could rip up timelines!

They had already messed up enough, did they not get that!?

Gods, he had to do everything! Wasn't Laurent supposed to be the thirty three year old ancient (compared to the rest of the gang) demigod leader? Then again, Laurent had his hands full dealing with his half-brother, Ezra, alone.

Whatever, he was dealing with this kid now. Grrrrreeeaaat.

You know, he never quite figured out if he was supposed to call Marissa "mother" or "aunt" or... just Marissa...? Or Miss Young...

Aw, fuck it. He was calling her mom. Not like it was a big deal.

But him just approaching her out of nowhere might be. How do you approach people? He wished he was as good at this as Ezra, Aria, and Lars were. They were masters of being friendly and making friends.

Though the former two were the exact opposite once you got to know them.

He would mention Bianca in that list but, admittedly, Emory did his best to keep his mind away from her making friends and her in general.

"Mom." He called out, almost hesitantly. "Or, uhm, somethin' else, I guess..."

The music was beautiful, enticing even! The few notes that were belted out brought her attention to the conductor who stood near the well. She wondered what the significance of it was actually.

What he said though, made her overly curious. It depended on the tale whether a tale was fictitious or not. It also depended on perspective too, she felt.

Her eyes widened. Whoever the blond lad was, he noticed her and it didn’t take him long to either. Not that she minded though, it helped break the ice between the two. Yet he proposed an odd question to her.

She didn’t speak at first, only letting her mouth hang open for a few minutes.

“indeed, yes.” She quips, with a quick nod. “Then again, it depends on the listener who may share a different perspective. Yes?”

"Heh, now that's one interesting reply."

Most people just agreed, that no matter what there was a distinct line between imagination and reality.

That is, except his family and those connected to it. After all, they were living proof anything could be real.

Was anything really fiction?

Perhaps in one world, some things could be impossible. But in others, not. Perhaps everything was possible in one world, while in another it was all impossible. How boring would that be? He liked this world, this time. Even with it's messed up timetravelers of whom he personally had the "displeasure" of knowing.

"Emory von Friedhof." The blonde nodded his head in greeting. "Hey, uh. By chance, you aren't human, are you? I'm just guessin'... like... your red hair makes me think of my father."

Gold eyes lazily glanced around. The forest was awfully quiet tonight, the spirits that mucked about with their usual business were preoccupied with themselves. It was oddly quiet, too quiet for his liking. It was if something was incredibly off.

It was then he saw a tuft of blond, whizzing by quickly in attempt to escape. It took a good moment to figure out who it was.

"—Who?"

…Ah, it was Emory, galavanting off to somewhere again. He wondered where exactly where the child went off to. He knew that Apollo was doing something ridiculous, likely trying to keep that girl’s son out of prison, or something. It was laughable that he didn’t know those girls by their names, or at least surnames.

"Good afternoon to you as well, Emory.  In a hurry I see?"

'Yeah, in a hurry away from you.' The blonde thought to himself, a pout evident on his lips before he sighed and gave a shrug, "Yeah. But it doesn't matter now."

Note to self: avoid the forest. Isn't that obvious, Emory? Shut up, Emory. Stop talking to yourself, Emory. Ugh.

"What are you doing? Dad isn't around to bug you all day here, is he? Or does he sit by the well and talk to you ninety nine point nine nine percent of the time here too?"

His fathers were almost never seen apart. That being said, they were almost never seen smiling.

Emory panicked, eyes searching for a hiding spot. Twenty three years and he still was absolutely frightened of his father. He was a grown man, honestly. But... how could he put it... both his fathers had an air about them that made them hard to approach.

Perhaps that was why they were together.

Ah, fuck. He was spotted by now, wasn't he?

With a grunt, he turned around and frowned, not bothering to hide how displeased he was. Was he gonna get lectured? Here's to hoping Uncle Ido could catch a hint and jump out to save him from that.

"Good afternoon, Father."

Agh. He was so fucking aggravated. Aria had gotten into trouble again, but thankfully Cole had been there to handle it. Gods know what they'd do if she wasn't around. But that didn't mean he was free. He just finished bailing Lars out from near arrest again. Did any of his siblings behave?

"My Gods, sometimes that fuckin' revenge power would be nice... I wanna kick Lars's ass something fierce." He grumbled, blue eyes flashing with rage (something he got from his father Apollo.)

Emory had been so engulfed in his rage, though, that he didn't realize where he was going and slammed into another person, though he stayed perfectly straight as if he hadn't.

"What the fuck, you brat." He hissed, eyes flashing gold like his father, Märchen's. "Gehen Sie in ein gut erhalten schob und ertrinken!" He snapped, aware of the severity of his words.

"Fuckin'... Just get out of my way, Father Märchen is gonna lecture me to the well and back if I don't get home soon. And I don't need Father Apollo draggin' me down to Tartarus again." Worst. Punishment. Ever.

Light and darkness always tended to need one another, didn’t they? She questioned a bunch of times of why it seemed her parents were dual opposites, in some ways. Daddy was the Greco-Roman God, who symbolized the Sun, along with much more. While her mama symbolized judgement, but remained in the dark - while being sly. At least, the past version of her. She wasn’t sure of how much she changed from now to then.

She happened to be taking a walk, nose stuck in a tome. In her collection of them, there seemed to be more and more new spells she could try out as Ran.

It’s been so long since she saw what happened to her mother now. She still had questions, about why this and why that. What was her mother’s purpose to pursing justice? There were so many loose ends to tie up still, and she wanted to know. But, the fact she yet to find out was—

Who that man was.

Her gait soon slowed down, as her musings overtook her mind. Who was that man? All she could see was pitch darkness when he was near her mother. She only knew him by voice, not…by face or appearance. To figure this out, she’d need to see what he specialized in. Granted, she was a demigod, but a new one more so. She never really bothered with her abilities in the future time, so she was rather weak unlike the rest of the second generation that she was yet to meet.

The night was certainly young, at this point. So she had all night to explore. There were no one to tell her and give her rules to go to bed at a certain hour. She was free to do what she pleased, at the moment. Pulling up her hood, the young girl scampered into the woods to search for answers.

Surprisingly, she came to hear a distinct sound, a melody not so far away. What had it been? Drawn in, the child quickly tip toed over, trying to see what was going on. It appeared, there had been an orchestra surrounding the well. And who was in the middle of it all was, well a young man- much older than she.

And he appeared to be conducing too, at that.

She chose not to utter a word, rather did she listen to the preformance that was about to begin.

Unlike his cousin, Ezra Johnson, Emory did not conduct as his father, Märchen von Friedhof, did. Somehow, that ability had been given to his cousin, rather than himself. Not that he minded. He rather preferred to conduct in peace, without raising the dead to enact their revenge.

He raised the slim conductor's baton and shut his eyes. The personifications of various instruments straightening up, their bodies surrounding the well and it's forest area.

The special place where his father and aunt met. The special place where his two fathers swore to each other. The special place that brought his uncle and aunt together.

The special place he hoped would bring himself and her together.

"Eins, zwei, drei..." His rough voice murmured in German. His wrists gave a flick and suddenly the entire place was filled with music,

"This tale is a work of fiction. However, this doesn't mean everything will be fictitious."

And as the instruments kept singing and playing, Emory opened a single eye and turned to Raine, a bored and tired expression on his face.

"Isn't that right, child?"
