Rick Jeanneret, the voice of the Buffalo Sabres for five decades, died Thursday. He was 81.

Very sad day. RJ had a way of calling a game that made me care. That’s right care about the Buffalo Sabres. And if anyone had hold me that I would consider the Sabres to be one of my teams 20 years ago I would have said something about bad jokes.

But RJ did. Even through the bad times I still cared the sign of a true fan.

Interesting article from the POV of a newer hockey fan. Why do I say newer fan? Everything is surprising.

True hockey fans know better. We are surprised when Boston gets booted after winning the President’s trophy but not shocked.

Also they don’t seem to understand that the playoffs are different. The worst team from the regular season- who made it into the playoffs can go all the way. Anyone who has done a bracket challenge knows that really predicting who will win is just a roll of the dice.

But that is why I love hockey.

I went to the Kraken Iceplex and if I hadn’t been frozen solid I would have take a picture or two.

They also had a team store at the location.

The Iceplex is at the former Northgate Mall which was one of the first malls in the US. At one point there was a hospital at one end. So where there once was shopping there are now three full ice rinks.

You know Bo I was very sad when you were traded. Might have even shed a tear or two. Then I saw this interview. I find your sour grapes very difficult to swallow.

It’s very rare anymore for players to stay with the team they start with. My brain is not as sharp as it once was and I’m constantly confused about the constant trading. I have to keep the NHL app open to keep track. So players have to get used to being on the move. Some of them handle this better than others.

I just never thought I would hear this kind of bullshit come out of your mouth. I’m going to have to paint over the numbers on my Bo Horvat Funko POP and turn it into a player I can respect.

Just so sad.
