Day of Anger (Tonino Valerii 1967)

When I was young and ignorant I used to hate standard coverage. And after watching actual movies like this (Day of Anger) I realized I hated unframed, unlit shots

The ending confrontation of Day of Anger is always a jarring scene for me because Scott Mary (Giuliano Gemma) is set against the new bar that Talby (Lee Van Cleef) has built and it looks like a surreal set piece for an art movie.

For many reasons I love the scene, and the movie building up to it. I do think that Day of Anger is a rather interesting as a subversive take on the typical arcs of cowboys, whilst also reminding me a bit of Treasure Island.
