Well I guess I'll be on my way, but my love is going to stay.

sooo i realized yesterday not everyone is aware i have an original fallout story that takes place in new orleans. i have talked abt it some on here as it relates to leon, but i haven’t posted a lot of it on here only bc it’s a large and deeply personal project. it’s a story about home set in my home that i’ve been working on for a long time. a way to express my own complicated feelings on what home is. the love for it and anger towards it. feeling like an outsider in your own home. identity. family. homesickness. a requiem.

i do wanna share more of it on here eventually. when i feel ready to share more. lol. i’m shy.

Fallout NOLA follows my Lone Wanderer, Leon Nollette, leaving the Capital Wasteland after he’s fed up with his stint as a doctor in the Brotherhood. It’s a little over a year and a half after the events of FO3, and Leon has decided to start his new career as a traveling doctor instead. His first stop—one that he’s dreamed of visiting for a long time—is the birthplace of his mother Catherine: New Orleans, Louisiana.

Originally just hoping to learn more about the mother he never met, Leon becomes entangled in a larger plot involving a long-since-defected Brotherhood patrol, prewar religious con artists, and a community of Super Mutants who live out of an old military base. And all the people in-between.

Along the way Leon learns more about who Catherine really was and the way her impact is still felt in the city decades later. He comes to understand the good and bad, the nuances that could never come through in his father’s stories of her. The memories she left behind when she set off for D.C.

But in coming to the place she could never return to, Leon feels like he’s finally found a new home.

leon tries real hard to pick up as much as he can language-wise. he’s much better at understanding what’s said to him than actually speaking it himself. curie has spoken to him in french on multiple occasions cus he has a french name and he’s just had to smile at her like uh huh yup exactlyyy

his spanish and even french is getting better tho. he gets very excited abt that. tho i do also find it fun cus on a related note, he’s bidialectal

colette and delphine, tommy torini and ladybird’s daughters 👯🏾‍♀️ they probably have the easiest life of any of my wasteland ocs, being born inside the vegas walls to two very influential people. they’re eccentric and creative in their own ways.

what is arisbeth most proud of?

depends on when you ask her i think, but overall she would probably tell you she’s most proud of how she was able to work her way from trader in a caravan family to being gomorrah’s headline act. she has plenty of issues w gomorrah, but the fact she was able to get her dream job dancing and entertaining on a big stage like that………it made her feel like she could do anything.

just the fact she was able to build the life she wanted for herself. when she wakes up and realizes she was able to do the things she wanted to do.

bunny does genuinely love bunnies…tho definitely partially influenced by the fact she was always given bunny-themed gifts cus of her name. she also loves dogs and radstags :)

leon loves birds, especially water birds like herons. he’s just generally fond of fish/aquatic animals too. he spends so much time in places near the water, he’s just grown to enjoy water animals. the irony that he loves animals that thrive in clean water isn’t lost on him.

alfredo doesn’t have a favorite animal, he doesn’t care. just thinks you need to be worried abt what animal could kill you.

avalon loves horses and bats. she’s fairly fond of coyotes too, even if she kinda sees them as nuisances. thinks they’re beautiful animals, but has had them attack her horses before :/

arisbeth loves radroaches and deathclaws. she knows the latter should be feared and respected (and she feels both), but we also know how she feels abt uglycute things

how does leon usually travel? is he always lone wandering on foot or does he hitch a ride with caravans? does he ever learn to ride any animals? :)

pretty evenly split! he starts out by foot but as he travels more and gets to better understand local caravan routes and any local transportation options (trains, boats, even repurposed vertibirds), he starts relying on them more. he’s ridden horses and brahmin several times, but he wouldn’t call himself great at it. knows enough to get by, but nowhere near the level of OCs like arisbeth, avalon, and alfredo.

but he enjoys traveling w caravans when he can. he likes the company, even if short-lived. he probably travels by foot slightly more overall, and i think part of it is to make sure he can serve less populated communities that may not have a doctor. places that may not be on caravan routes. even raider dens, tho that’s usually more happenstance.

i’m not trying to be mean i’m genuinely asking: why do ppl even want a new vegas 2? like the story was told and over. it’s an rpg w multiple endings like you get the ending you wanted. it’s done. yeah i would’ve liked some post-game stuff if anything but an entirely new game in that exact same setting w the exact same characters retreading the exact same shit we just went through?

it’s one thing if a new game takes place on the west coast and you hear mentions of new vegas or whatever. that’s fine. to be expected, even. but just wanting that exact story you love so much all over again……they already made that game. it’s called fallout new vegas.
