Cade looked around,kinda bewildered at the map he’d gotten for classes.”I’m not any less confused looking at this. Don’t human’s have a better way to map yet?”
Cohen presumptively grabbed the map off the boy, and began turning it around each way, studying it closely. “Not the best cartography I’ve ever seen..” She sighed. “But I can help you out if you need it, where are you headed?”
“It isn’t, it’s just a Force-attuned crystal. Without that they’re merely useless hilts. They’re very helpful, but alas alien to this galaxy, so you’re out of luck there. Pistols? My father made me bring a small blaster with me. But I don’t carry that around. Still comforting to have though, just in case.”
“Still sounds like magic to me, but there are still so many things I haven’t seen... this isn’t my world, this.” Cohen gestured to her surroundings. “I carry mine everywhere, can’t trust anyone here just yet..”
“Oh, dear, I know true evil, so people threatening me with weapons is pretty adorable,” Emmett answered.
“You’ve got a lot of gall..” Cohen scoffed, truthfully he had earned her respect through this behaviour. “This true evil eh? Care to divulge?”
“I trust them with my life.”
“The only person I trust with my life is myself, you should never put your life in someone else’s hands yknow..”
“Now who would’ve guessed that? A girl with a thing for blasters doesn’t follow the rules, now that’s a surprise.”
“A shitty one I presume.”
“Sorry that I’m so predictable, love.” Cohen replied sarcastically, eyeing the girl up and down. “Precisely.” She nodded, matter-of-factly. “What do you call yourself then?”
hey guys so sorry for the inactivity, been home for the weekend and very stressed out, things have calmed down a bit now so I’ll get on with replies now!! if anyone wants to plot anything just hmu!!
“Well, lightsaber, it’s basically a laser sword. A plasma blade powered by a crystal. But unlike a normal sword it has an on and off switch, so it’s easier to hide. Eh, it has worked for me thus far. Good luck.”
“Sounds like magic.. A sword with an on/off switch, could use one of those.. but then, I think I’d miss my pistols too much..”
“I’m actually quite calm, but thanks for the advice. I think I’ll be fine, but you go ahead and make your mild threats. They are cute.”
“Cute.. that’s hilarious.” Cohen laughed, letting out a small unladylike snort. “If this is what you think is cute, I very much doubt your judgement on people.”
“This is a school of magic. I think we should be safe enough to not need weapons. I mean, look at the professors we have at our disposal.”
“Well.. when it really comes down to self defence, I’m not putting my life in the hands of strangers, would you really feel safe?”
“Unfortunately, they tend to frown upon it. They caught me with my saber once and confiscated it, not that I didn’t get it back. I still always carry it with me, I just keep it hidden now. As long as you do that, you should be fine.”
“Saber huh, tell me more?” Cohen quirked her brow in curiosity. “Good advice, cheers.”
“I think so?” Ariadne responded after debating an answer for a few seconds, “I’m pretty sure the only time weapons are allowed on campus are during training? Oh. I’m guessing you’re a fan of weapons?”
“I’ll just have to be ‘in training’ indefinitely.. and yes, what kind of pirate would I be without my love of the sword?”
“I would only assume. Oh is it really?”
“Tell me, do you plan on keeping all your items or are you going to give them up?”
“Good thing I’ve never been the kind to follow the rules.”
“And of course, what kinda pirate would I be without my blasters?”
“Yes, and from experience, that is actually a good policy. If you weren’t here when people were not in control of their minds and attempted to kill others, you can just go sit and pout over the rule. The rest of us will try not to have our PTSD bother you too much.”
“Can I give you some advice.. guy? You need to calm yourself a little. Careful who you’re talking to.”
“I guess so? I mean some people carry swords and stuff so it’s not that big of a rule”
“Sweet.” Cohen exclaimed, whipping out a vintage pistol and spinning it skilfully in her hand. “The name’s Cohen Barbossa, what’s yours?”
“Yeah, I am pretty sure it does. Why would you want weapons anyway?”
“Well first off, they’re my trophies, my blasters.. and y’can’t be too careful, never can tell who’s gonna be lurking round the corner, even in a fine establishment such as this.”
“I like to know what I’m doing and information regarding the school. Especially when it involves my friends yes. Wait, your blasters? You brought guns to school?” Asteria asked with a quirked eye brow, unsure if she should be cautious or impressed. Looking from the features of the other to the hand stuck out in front of her baffled, Asteria babbled, “Well this is a custom I haven’t seen before..no I stand corrected I believe I saw it in a film once. However I didn’t actually think it was an Earthen greeting.” Staring at the hand as she contemplated, who was she to deny a potential traditional greeting. She wanted to fit in on Earth this was just another catch. Reluctantly Asteria spat into her own hand and shook; a light grimace on her face. “Please don’t tell me every time we meet we have to do this, I’m not sure how comfortable I feel about this specific Earthen welcoming. Asteria, Asteria Kar, nice to meet you cadet.”
“That’s pretty smart, I need cluing up I know bugger all about this place.. not exactly my natural habitat.” Cohen scoffed, studying the sweeping arches in the hallway, how nauseating. “Ain’t just an Earthly greeting, tis a pirate’s of course, your average joe wouldn’t be caught dead, but I figure you ain’t an average joe either.” Giving her a one sided smile, they clapped their hands together, and Cohen gave one firm shake before releasing her strong grip and wiping her hand on her clothes. “Nahnah, now that I trust ya, we’re good, I fancy myself as a pretty good judge of character me. You’re a good egg.” Cohen invaded her personal space and tapped the rim of her glasses with one finger. “Barbossa, Cohen, I’ll have to show you my collection sometime.. and you can call me first mate, s’my official title after all.”
“I wouldn’t exactly classify it as being ‘strict’, one of my close friends has a highly dangerous weapon, as does her brother. As long as you don’t threaten or injure other students, I believe it wouldn’t cause many problems. I doubt it would be challenging to conceal objects either, it’s amazing what you can hide with a little thought. Just be cautious around some specific students because of their government involvement, that is all I will say.”
“Well you seem pretty clued up. Thanks, means I can start unloading m’blasters.” And with that, she spat on her hand and offered her a handshake, a tradition aboard the ship, an offer of friendship. “I like you already, you got a name?”
