About to take a tumblr hiatus. I almost thought about deleting my tumblr, but I have had it for too long and worked too hard on it to make that decision just yet
but I think I will have someone change the password and not tell me what it is until I am ready to go back on
I am doing a social media purge--spending my time online has just enabled me to waste it, and frequently I end up mad and resentful at people or society in general for the opinions i see online and like
on an individual level--it doesn't matter! so I need to remove the stress
and on the societal level---me reading about something and sitting in front of my computer getting mad about it also doesn't help and
my mental health is all sorts of shakey right now so I am removing the negative where I can.
not that tumblr also doesn't make me laugh and allow me to connect with people but I am just psychically exhausted and need to save my energy, even my socializing ones. If you are a friend of mine and tumblr and aren't friends with me on fb feel free to add me to keep in touch with me online. In regards to fb, I didn't deactivate it bc I have lots of friends abroad right now and fb messenger is basically how we keep in touch---but I've unfollowed basically anyone who isn't in my main, important crew of friends or posts a lot of negative things/uses fb and social media as a debating platform (I just DON'T have the mental energy for that right now).
Additionally if we are tumblr friends and not IRL friends I haven't unfollowed you on fb bc I do care about you and want to be able to keep in touch--it's just that tumblr and twitter particularly have a really high volume of posts, so it's easier for me to keep in touch with the people I really care about in that diluted form.
I'll also probably keep my instagram because pictures are calmer and less easy to get lost in/waste mental energy over.
I am hoping I am not offending anyone, but I really need to do a life cleanse and like reboot my life/brain, I've been struggling and in the process of healing from a lot of shit I have been overwhelmed by, and I'd like to do it as cleanly as possible. So think about it as bed rest during a cold, or recovering from a broken leg or like a juice cleanse or something---I am keeping my wounds clean, not over taxing myself, and running only on the essential "nutrients" I need to sustain myself.
I am hoping this helps, because I have been very ragged and tired and panicked this summer, and I haven't been feeling well for a while in general, so I am hoping mental health wise it will help me feel like my best self.
I will hopefully return in a month or so, but we will see how I feel.
