Protect a room cheat sheet for broke witches

1) place clear quartz chips in each corner of the room, quartz chips retail for 10cents each rather than $3-$4 per whole crystal. They’re just as effective.

2) Rosemary- it’s great for protection and acts as a memory booster as well. It’s very cheap all you have to do is sprinkle it in a sachet and rest it under your pillow for nightmares, or hang it in your doorway as a protection charm. Don’t have any sachets? Use a ziplock bag.

3) use your mind- when I still followed the Wiccan path a fellow sister taught me a visualisation technique to cleanse myself, and my surroundings. All I do is visualise strong misty waterfalls washing everything clean, some people may feel more comfortable visualising a wind storm or fire burning away negativity. Point is spend time perfecting this technique, it’s relaxing, it works and it’s free.

I was in the broom closet for five years, and I can tell you I got very crafty at practicing my craft. Nearly a decade later I still use some of these techniques, because they’re cost effective and they work even if it’s not necessarily pretty.

Solar Magic

So we hear about lunar magic all the time; it’s a big part of witchcraft, but that doesn’t mean the sun doesn’t have anything to offer!

Differences Between Solar and Lunar Magic - Solar magic is more potent. Moonlight is made from reflected sunlight, so it stands in theory as well as practice that sunlight is a lot more intense! In some respects, because of this they have opposing traits; lunar magic is more subtle, and better suited to either gentle or ‘slow-burn’ type magic. Solar magic is fast to act and can do so with more of a ‘bang’ - there may be some unforeseen effects! I like to think solar magic is more enthusiastic than lunar; it wants to go the extra mile, but will power through before giving you time to consider. In solar magic, a little truly goes a long way

- Solar magic walks a fine line between growth and destruction. Just as warmth nurtures growth, it can also wither life away. You’ll want to keep a tight hold on it to make sure it’s doing exactly what you want. Limitations on your magic are everything. That being said, it’s also a very powerful component in curses

- It takes a shorter time to charge crystals and pendants with solar magic than it does with lunar! Many lunar charging/cleansing techniques I’ve seen ask for the item in question to be left in a window where it will be exposed to moonlight all night, but doing the same with solar power may take an hour or two at most. I live in a desert where I get intense heat from the sun most days out of the year, so for small spells I’ve found a few minutes is all I need. You do want to be careful with those destructive solar qualities though; you can see it most clearly in how sunlight fades colored quartz. I’ve found some of the best vessels for carrying solar power are Tiger’s Eye, Red Jasper, and Clear Quartz. A tech witch could also use mini solar panels to hold solar magic!

Here’s a short and sweet shadow work spread for those times when you feel something heavy hanging on your shoulders but aren’t sure what it is.

1) The Poison - The source of your affliction, i.e. the experience(s) and resulting perspective(s) responsible for your distress. 

2) The Illness - How you’re being afflicted by the poison, i.e. how you absorbed the experience(s) and how it has affected your perspective(s).

3) The Antidote - How to release the poison and remedy the wounds, i.e. how you can absolve the experience(s) and reconcile your perspective(s).

The first incarnation of this bottle was a loose incense to burn on a charcoal disk. It originally just didn’t have salt. It was made for my father, who had a problem with his heart and was having trouble with day to day activities. 

You could forgo a seal and choose to burn the mixture on a charcoal disc, it’s up to you. 

I ended up using pink salt for aesthetic again at the top. A kind of bookend to the intention to purify the body.

A Sweet-Ass Money Spell

(I took liberties with the title, lol.)

You will need:

a small pot of salt

a small pot of coins of any denomination

a yellow or gold candle

Timing:

Sunday

Method:

Light the candle so that it shines on the money.

Scatter a circle of salt around the candle and coins, reciting (verbally or mentally) :

Money grow, money flow Bring me swift prosperity

Repeat the words eight more times and, on the ninth chant of “prosperity,” clap your hands nine times, and blow out the candle.

Scoop up the salt, tipping it and the rest of the salt in the pot under flowing water - a kitchen tap will do. Recite (verbally or mentally) :

Go from me, flow from me To the rivers and the sea And return as swift prosperity

Give the coins to a charity.

If you read a spell, and don’t have all the ingredients don’t be afraid to substitute with whatever you can find or just leave that part out. Witchcraft is mainly about your intent. So you don’t have to be exact!
