Desperate Wishes

A really sketchy drabble I wrote for my SNK roleplay group just because I wanted to see them in feels while I laugh. Oops. Sorry for bad quality - it’s been a long time since I’ve last written.

Pairing | Bertholdt/Annie

Summary | Bert hates how there’s nothing he can do to get Annie out of that rock. Spoilers, canon AU where Bert finds out about Annie’s whereabouts.

It’s like finding a fly in a piece of fossilized amber, Bert muses as he silently stares at the rock that Annie has voluntarily sealed herself in. Rather, a diamond-hard tomb to protect the information and secrets held dear to them.

He can see every detail within it – the creases on her eyelids, the delicate yet strong and aquiline nose, the thinly pursed lips.

The ring on her hand that he had given her when they were children.

Every faucet of the stone highlights her features in a delicate but strong way – Annie, who was the weakest yet coldest – determined – of them all.

And for a moment, he curses the whole world and his whole existence for not being able to get her out of this translucent prison and is tempted with the thought of shifting into his Titan form and rescuing her, but no one knew how to get her out in this state – not even him or Reiner.

So he settles for placing his hands on the smooth surface and resting his forehead as close as he can to Annie, hoping that maybe – just maybe – Annie will hear his thoughts.

He wishes that he could break through the crystalline-like rock and kiss her - tell her that it’s alright now. They’ve accomplished their goals. We can go home now.

Return to being the happy kids that we used to be.

Anything to wake her up.
