I might have just finished watching Deutschland 83, and I’m moved to come on to tumblr for the first time in months to say why in all fandom is there only a single fanfic on Ao3 for this pairing what is wrong with you people.

I’m not really back on Tumblr or in fandom, but I did write something - for a fifty year old film about World War Two which has no fandom. These two naval cuties are in 1953′s ‘The Cruel Sea’; I got jumped by a plotbunny, and now they have fanfiction, ‘Sea Change’ 7000 words, rated explicit.
I think it probably makes sense even if you haven’t seen the film - if you want to read without watching (though it is a good film), the characters are John Morell on the left and Keith Lockhart on the right. (And yes, that is a very young Denholm Elliott who would later be in Indiana Jones)
Too much RL stress and Stuff at the moment. I’m ducking out of fandom/fic (not that I’ve been able to write for months) for a while.

I can’t get over how much we miss from this moment in the movie. Seeing the upper half only cuts out so much!
Look at how firmly he puts his hand on her back. His hand isn’t just resting on her back, he’s holding her and pulling her as close to him as he can. He pulls her fully against him and into the crook of his arm, then turns into her closing whatever space was left between them. He does the same thing with their hands by folding his fingers completely over her hand. He’s being possessive, and I love it.
Look at the way he completely leans into her once she’s pressed against him. The look on his face at that moment is almost like a look of relief, isn’t it? Despite his confusion, he knows this. It looks like his entire body is relaxing and sighing finally. There is no confusion here, no battle to figure out what is right or what is wrong. This makes sense, this is right, this is how it should be.
Body language experts would say this boy wants to eat that girl alive, and if they weren’t in a public place right now, he would. He’s definitely not positioning himself to start dancing immediately, not with how he’s holding her. The room around them is buzzing, and the two of them are stepping out of the buzz and into their own moment and I hate Marvel for taking this from them.

Because this? This is what men do. Even today, they don’t see women; they see some version of her that speaks to their own masculinity. That part of a girl that makes them feel strong and powerful and righteous in one way or another.
None of them bothered to see who Peggy Carter really is because none of them cared. All they cared about is how she made them look to the outside world, how their actions towards her made them feel about themselves. The Father, The Knight, The Nice Guy.
And here my girl is, calling them all out on it. Here she is saying, if you actually saw me as a person, you would’ve seen what I was doing. You would’ve known. Don’t blame me for not being able to see past your ego.
Peggy Carter has never and will never put up with this misogynistic bullshit and I am HERE for it.
