A letter arrives to Captain Indris. It is sealed with a wax seal, the wax seal carrying the symbol of the Duchy of Whiteridge. It reads as follows:

“Dear Captain Indris of Sal’Thorin,

Greetings. I am Captain Rodrigo of Whiteridge.

Magister Merlin told me about you. As for how I got this letter to be delivered to you… Hugin owed me a favor so I asked him to have this letter delivered in some capacity. I hope this reaches you with little difficulty.

I would like to commemorate you on taking down the tyrant. It is not easy. Fighting against authority that you knew to better the lives of the citizens can be quite the challenge. You remind me of the heroine we have in the Duchy of Whiteridge, both of you defied the odds and did whatever it took to save innocent people from a cruel fate. I would like to meet the captain who saved not only his people but broke a 2000 year-old curse as well. That takes a lot of energy, courage, and strength. She revealed to us that our Princess, who we thought had survived her sickness, had passed away, and that the frost furie had possessed her body. Our protector, Valka, defeated the frost furie, saving us from a time where myself and every living resident here probably would’ve been stuck in an eternal winter timeloop.

I do wish to inform you as our city has Graveborn wandering around. Occasionally, wandering the planes of East and West Whiteridge. The Graveborn are allies. Our protector is one of the graveborn you may encounter.

I am informing you ahead of time so that you do not freak out if ever you choose to visit us. You may pay us a visit whenever you feel like it. Whether it be for the snowspire festival or just in general.

Should you, Indris of Sal’Thorin, ever decide one day you wish to visit Cedartown or the Duchy of Whiteridge, our doors will always be open to you. And before you think, ‘what if this is a trap?’

One, I would not do that to someone I have interest in meeting. Two, the protector of our city would immediately pull me to the side and very calmly tear me a new one. Three, I’m not looking to anger the general who took down the frost furie. I personally think not provoking the champion of death is a good thing. Thankfully, Valka is a very reasonable person. Final reason, and most importantly, Merlin would be livid with me. I would never hear the end of it. Rightfully so.

Apologies for my rambling, this letter is getting rather long. I look forward to your response. And, please take your time.”

There is a tiny little flower sticker at the bottom of the page. A tiny message is put right next to this.

“Ps. Orla, the last living descendent of the Valesa family, offers a little sticker as a gift. I couldn’t stop her from putting this on the paper. Yes I did try. I was unsuccessful. Yes, I did decide to keep this sticker on the paper.”



(Indris finds the letter at the guard-post, holding it gently with both hands, turning it over and running a thumb over the wax seal)

"I don't recognise this seal..."

(He slowly opens it and takes his time to read the letter carefully, smiling softly at the mention of Merlin and Hugin.)

"Captain Rodrigo... from Whiteridge? What a fascinating history and such a tragedy too...the Frost Furie... almost sounds as formidable as Saida, that myself and Eironn defeated with Magister Merlin's aid,"

"Hm...I only did what I should have done to protect the people... but yes, you are right. It did take more courage than I thought I had. Perhaps I should try to visit Whiteridge someday. It would be an honour to meet Captain Rodrigo and General Valka,"

(The captain chuckles as he reads the post-note, taking a moment to appreciate the little sticker.)

(Indris takes a moment to source some parchment and ink, slowly and thoughtfully composing his reply:

To Captain Rodrigo of Whiteridge,

I have received your letter. Thank you for extending your goodwill and giving me a brief introduction to Whiteridge's history. You do make a good point, both myself and your protector General Valka have faced against seemingly impossible odds. It would be an honour to meet you both.

If you are at liberty to do so, would you be able to arrange for further correspondence to allow for us to meet?

Many thanks for your letter and invitation...I am glad to hear Sal'Thorin's story is reaching to new places.

...Yeah, honestly I get why you feel that way. That's why you can't let racist nobles like her get away with running Seralyth's corrupt regime in Sal'thorin anymore.

"Of course I can't. It'd be a dereliction of my duty to let such corruption continue."

...Respectfully, how did it actually feel when you received a stigma of judgement from Velara back then? Did you realise then that she had already betrayed your trust and admiration?

"It...hurt. To say the least..."

"I had suspicions, I knew that one day I may have to face being branded for a mistake, much like most other lowborn essail but the reality of it actually happening, certainly felt like betrayal,"

Azurella made her way through the city, “Indris! Hey, brought you food that I made myself. Don’t worry I made sure it can’t hurt you if you take a bite of it.” She offers him some Fish and Mushroom rice. The rice was brought from the Lightbearers from topside, but the fish and the mushroom were from the forests. Azurella made sure the mushrooms were safe to eat.

She paused, “So… I need to ask you something. Do you know the guy in the mask? Who is he, is he friendly, can I be friends with them? You seem to have a really good relationship with him. I am asking you because I am nervous he’s gonna bite my head off...”

(Indris greets Azurella with a curt wave)

"Hello again...That's very kind of you,"

(He tries the rice dish and there's the raise of an eyebrow. That's an interesting texture, perhaps one to try again later.)

"Hah...No need to be nervous. The Imperator won't bite your head off, he might, however, drag you into something in order to escape from working..."

"We have a good relationship...?"

"Nevermind. Do you wish for me to introduce you?"

A familiar-looking plushie scurries out of the bushes and stops in front of Indris. It seems to be on high alert.

Mini-Indris: !!

"What? Where did you come from?"

(And you're a miniature replica of myself?)

"Hm. Maybe Merlin will know. You can stay with me for now,"

(Indris crouches down to the plushies level, extending a hand for it to crawl on)

Azurella (@wrenthemoralfander) enters Sal’Thorin with a box that has a wind up in the back. She sets it down, and sighs. “Gotta give this gift to Indris.” She picks it back up, makes her way through Sal’Thorin, accidentally tripping. The box falls to the floor and a few gears fall out. Great, it broke. That’s ok, she can fix it. She stands up and fixes it with magic, before making sure it worked right. It did.

“Ow. I’m okay, just gotta get to Indris. I mean he’s like one of the coolest people in this place… will he like this? I made him a music box by hand. Had some of the dwarves teach me how. Ok, okay, don’t stress over it, just give it to him.”

She finally finds Indris, and smiles. “Indris!” She gently pulled out the music box, “I have a gift for you. It’s a music box. I made it, with a lot of help from the Dwarves in Brimstone Village.” She gestures to the handle in the back. Ever since she met him, Azurella looked up to Indris sort of like a…like a little kid, excited to show their older sibling something cool they made them.

((Ooc disclaimer: look, I am new to RP and I don’t fully understand it yet. I hope I did this right please let me know if I didn’t. Indris is one of the coolest characters in the game in my personal opinion and you do a fabulous job writing for him.))

"Hm? A...Dwarven Music Box..."

(He takes the box in his hands and gently admires Azurellas handiwork)

"Thank you, you've done a fine job crafting this, Miss,"

(He winds the handle and lets the music box play its tune for them)

Happy Valentine's day , I've never liked it but it seems okay. I've tried many times and I don't know what type of sweet you like. I know having chocolate isn't just something. So I think I made you chocolate chip cookies because I know you like them. So have a good day.

"...There have been public executions handled by the priestesses, much like there were public sacrifices for the Queen..."

(The captain is quiet for a while, his eyes fixed on the pendant in his hands, the slightest hint of embarrassment tinges his cheeks)
