Jet Lancer
The Lancer 01 prototype from Jet Lancer, an intense arcade shooter from a few years back. ✈️☁️👩✈️ I got it as a gift from a friend and initially bounced off of the difficulty, but I came back it to it almost a year later and found the story and the main character's arc very compelling. I've heard it compared to mecha anime and Ace Combat and I think that's an affectionate comparison personally. It's not the typical shmup- movement controls are oriented to the heading of your craft rather then the screen. I only know of two other games like this, Luftrausers before it and a new roguelike in development called Wind Runners. It's got accessibility options if the dodge-spamming gameplay loop is a bit much for you. I think more highly of it in retrospect and intend to replay it on stream soon to see how I feel about it in a post-Silksong timeline.
