“I don’t want to hurt him... or.. or k-kill him.”
“Of course you don’t, darling, you’re to be wed, after all.” Seliras sighed softly as she studied Aleigha in her quarters. The noblewoman had taken to sitting on the ship’s floor while the Bloodcursed had lounged languidly on her bed, draped in nothing but a silk robe. She had a Captain to visit, after all. Again. After she’d been so rudely interrupted the first time by the red-haired Shield-Bitch that stole her Knight-Captain from her just a few hours prior.
There was a quirk to her head to the right, silver ringlets spilling over her shoulder. Aleigha’s study of magic from Huckleberry, Neeia, and herself aboard the Wail was.. fruitful. If slow. Seliras was merely the reluctant mentor at this point, what with Huckleberry having hoisted himself into the fucking afterlife and come back... strangely mortal. But the girl’s curiosity and drive to learn was impressive.
Aleigha sat with her legs crossed and her hair done up messily in a half-bun, her hands positioned at her center. What better school to learn first than Frost? They were sitting in a harbor, after all, water was the most easily accessible element to get a hold of. She couldn’t get the water to freeze, not yet, perhaps the Noblewoman was frightened of her innate abilities she possessed, it was uncertain. Frost did, however, gather at the woman’s fingertips and little elsewhere, leaving her with a swirling sphere of water that slipped in and out of her fingers like silk. It was amusing, though, watching the girl’s face light up like a Winter Veil star as she grew comfortable enough for little ‘tricks’ like that. Adorable. How long had it been since she was that eager? Too long. Hundreds of years, surely.
“He’s resilient, that bastard, you know that? It’ll take a lot to kill him— well. Used to. Now he’s all.. fleshy. Delicate.” Seliras continued, waving a hand dismissively before her face as she exhaled that acrid silver smoke from the slender cigarette holder she often carried. Aleigha paused in her water play, her expression souring. The water fell from her hands with a splash, soaking her lap! The blonde frowned, sighing softly. Well.. at least it wasn’t her dresses that were now locked in a trunk in Huckleberry’s quarters somewhere. She found quite quick that fine dresses weren’t suited for life on a ship and was quickly converted to comfortable cotton clothing, trousers and tunics. Quite a change!
“I don’t know if that was supposed to help or not, Miss Sel...” Aleigha frowned, wiping her soaked hands on the side of her trousers that weren’t drenched.
“It.. was. What I meant, my dear, is that you won’t kill him or hurt him. You aren’t a walking static stick of Arcane yet, now are you?” The elf chirped, flashing that plum colored grin down to the human with a chuckle. Aleigha tried a smile, but it didn’t meet her eyes. Seliras sighed, hard, oh how she detested playing therapist to a wayward Noblewoman. She’d had enough of that shit in her day. Sel’s knees tucked up slightly, enough for her to turn and lay on her belly towards the foot of her bed to peer down at the woman curiously with those bright claret eyes. She was far from modest, especially on the Wail, and the cleavage that was flashed to Aleigha was enough to make a sailor blush! And she did! Baby blues averted themselves from that buxom Siren and instead dropped to her lap.
“What is it? Really. You know he’s up and walking around, he’s not dead. My dear, you’ve been sulking since he left in the first place. Dare say... you’re not unhappy, are you?” Seliras queried, propping her chin up in one palm while the other hand brought that thin cigarillo to her lips. The ever-burning tip flared cyan a moment before she exhaled to the ceiling. The life of a pirate wasn’t for everyone, and it was certainly exciting, this carefree way of life. No rules, no House of Nobles breathing down her neck. Aleigha’s shoulders rose and fell in a small shrug, working the interior of her cheek between her teeth as she thought. Seliras gave a loud gasp, then.
“It’s because he’s a Half-Elf, isn’t it?!”
“What?! No! Of course not!”
Seliras pouted slightly. She thought she hit the nail on the coffin with that one. A hum had left her as she thought, head tilting slightly to the right.
“It’s just—“
“It’s the dreadlocks, isn’t it. He looks like a fucking hoodlum now.”
“No, well, I—“
“Is it because he’s a redhead?”
“Why w—“
“You’re having second thoughts, aren’t you, Lady Davenport..”
Aleigha froze, eyes wide and doe-eyed. A sad frown tugged to life and she wrung her wrists in her lap for a moment.
“I-I think I’m done learning for the day...” Aleigha said quietly, pushing herself into a stand. Vee would probably make fun of her for pissing her pants again, but Aleigha didn’t really care as she made for the exit.
“You’re part of the reason he did all of this to himself.. you are aware, yes?” The buxom elf chimed in her lay, kicking her feet up behind her in a casual sway. She didn’t mean to guilt trip the girl, it was a fact... quite an endearing one, really, taking a look at who they were talking about.
“L-Lord West.. he’s kind, and I’m happy, I just... there’s many things I don’t know about him still, and, well.. considering what he’d gone to great lengths to hide from everyone before... what else is there, you know?” Aleigha said softly, white knuckle gripping the doorknob. There was a sharp breath taken and the door was swung open, the noblewoman lingering in the doorway for a moment.
“Th-thank you, Miss Emberwing.. for the lesson today.” Aleigha said hurriedly before the door was closed and Sel listened to the retreating footsteps dart down the hallway and up to the top deck of The Wail.
“We all have our secrets, darling. Some not as pretty as the other.” Seliras sighed, a heavy sound, before she swung up into a stand and a languid stretch. She had her outfits prepared for the meeting with Rosemarri on the morrow, but for now? Seliras traipsed in a half skip to the center of her room.
“Oohhh Captain... my Captaaiin~” Came sing-song as she stepped through that portal into the captain’s quarters, leaving nothing in her wake but that red silk robe.
