[Jim jut rolls his eyes and places a hand between Bones' shoulder blades to help steer him in the right direction.] Protective, yeah. That's what it is.
"…..I thought the term was— …. shit, yeah, I guess I am. When do you have th’ day off so I can drag your ass down with me?"
"I work a late night tonight, but I have tomorrow off. I'll comm you when shift ends, and we'll go from there. Sound good?"
Thank god you’re not like you were, I would have already been forced t’do somethin’ stupid with the price of my humility, but ‘m alright. I promise.
Come on, Bones. You don't even have to go back to your room, we can go to mine. I just.. don't feel comfortable sharing you with everyone else on board when you're like this.
"I have leave from tomorrow through Sunday, how ‘bout I treat you t’somethin’ when you’re not being busy being hot shot Enterprise Captain, hm?"
"Bones are you.. Are you asking me out on a date?"

Old me would take advantage of you in this state. But, alas, I am a changed man. You should be in your quarters, Bones. You don't exactly do public intoxication very well.
Had a couple drinks in m’office. Today is a good day.
Not that I'm complaining about the giddy exterior, but.. Bones are you drunk?
She snuggles up against him, glad to hear he’s okay, but when he asks her to spill he secrets, she freezes a bit. Thinking for a moment, on how to phrase this without sounding ridiculous, she sighed, “I…I’ve realized that I’m only attracted to people who I know, in the long run, will only treat me like shit. Use me as their sex toy, or for my brain, or for both. Something about it … is just what I like, and I don’t understand why."
Jim is patient. He waits, watches as Aiden struggles with her words, whether she wants to tell him at all. He won't push her, but he doesn't want her to back away. He can help her, and all he wants is to be there for her. The choice is entirely hers.
"That's all?" Jim can't help the single huff of a chuckle that escapes him. "Liking someone who treats you badly.. is not as much of an unnatural thing as you'd think." They round a corner as Jim continues, "It's nice sometimes. To have your freedom taken, to just.. let someone else make all the decisions for you. Had a few girlfriends like that back on Earth, even a boyfriend who liked to slap me around. But eventually, you realize that you're tired of being controlled, of being told what to do. It's an infatuation with having no responsibilities. Not with the person you're with. It just.. takes a little time for you to see the difference."
"I was wondering why Spock was in your chair so much. I was starting to worry about you. Are you okay?" She looked at him with worried eyes, scared that something bad had happened and that she wasn’t there to help him. Arm wrapping around his waist, since she was too short to really reach anything else, “Yeah, I’m alright, I suppose. Not as good as I’d hoped, but I’m getting there."
Jim nods his head, smiling at Aiden. "Yeah, kid, I'm good. Just.. had a few issues I had to take care of. Nothing you need worry yourself with," Jim squeezes the arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer, into a sort of side-hug. "Come, tell big brother what's wrong. I'm here for you, always here to listen. You know that."
Spock had whinged at Bones for hours on end about confronting Jim about his monthly physical, but he left it up to Jim — he wasn’t going to hold his hand and complain at him til he did it. Let Spock be worried, but also nearly be worried himself. Although this was completely typical stubborn James Kirk, something would backfire on the Captain and that was always the first and foremost worry in the back of Bones’ head. Maybe it could be taken care of quick so Bones didn’t have to put him on bedrest and put Spock on duty whilst Jim worked on shaking everything out of his system.
When he saw him in his medbay, he shook his head. Dammit man, I called it was the first thought in his head and Jim was in his good mood, as if that was any different from his norm. Pinching the bridge of his nose, shaking his head constantly at Kirk. You just now wait and this happens.
"You’re gonna have to be put on bedrest, most likely. I’ll have you know, this is most likely because you are so goddamn stubborn to come up for that monthly physical. You need to treat yourself better than this, Jim." There was so much spectacle that Leonard made out of this — and all because he was so damn worried. and he never made a fuss unless he was truly worried for somebody he cared for. “This is gonna pinch," He quipped and instantly hypo sprayed him, giving him a vaccine to help him fight off this cold. “Spock has your duty for a few days, honour this of what I have to say or i’ll kick your ass and make you stay in bed. You need to take care of yourself more as Captain, you know this, Jim."
"Bedrest? What the hell for?" Jim is nearly about to have a cornea. He doesn't have the time for bedrest, he can't. "I don't have time to come down for things like a physical, Bones. I have duties to attend to. Unless you've forgotten, I'm Captain of a starship. I have a crew to take care of, I have things that are expected of me. Physicals are the least of my concerns."
A pinch."Ow," ha. Bones has never been one for gentle handling when it comes to Jim, and hypoing Jim in the neck is his favorite thing to do. Jim imagines it's how he looks at sparring. He just wishes it didn't have to include his pain for Bones to feel happy. "I'm not leaving the conn, Bones. I'm fine. You and Spock are just.. overreacting."
"I can too. Been crazy lately, and I am so ready to relax and just…forget things for a while. How have you been?" She smiled up at him, trying to hide the emotions she was feeling, other than the outward happiness to see him.
"Been good. Busy, mostly. Keeping my mind off things, and it hasn't been hard since I've had to pass up my Captaincy to Spock for a little while. but things're getting better now that I'm actually, you know, getting help," Jim chuckles, putting his arm around her shoulders as they walk. "Glad you're doing okay, though. I was beginning to.. you know.. worry, or whatever."
"Jim!" She jumped up, smiling, and hugged him, “I would love to join you for a drink!"
Jim can't help the big smile on his face as he hugs her back. "Come on, I can already hear the drinks calling my name."
Finally, a night without a graveyard shift... and yet, nothing to do...
"Care to join me for a drink? It seems I've been missing my little sister."

At least he wasn’t hurt or in pain, that was the better of the signs that today went well for the Captain. Pulling his sleeves up, he walked over by Jim and groaned lightly to show him that he was nearby, no words, just that simple grouchy lure he seemed to have everyday of the week on board of the ship.
Jim didn't even want to be here in the medbay. He'd been avoiding his monthly physical for two successful weeks. But one tiny sneeze on the bridge, and Spock all but physically picked him up and brought him down here, boring into his skull about regulations and how the Captain of a starship needs to take care of himself and get looked at for every single damn thing that doesn't seem right within his body's limitations.
A cold was all he had, he's sure, but here Jim is, sitting on a damn biobed, waiting for Bones to come and check him out so he can reassure his first officer that he's fine, and doesn't need to be babied.
"Bones! Long time no see," a joke of course. He saw the doctor literally only hours ago, just before Alpha Shift started. He's just hoping his friend won't get mad for him avoiding what needs to be done for so long he's allowed himself a damn space cold.
hisses because people who ramrod jj about the 'way he's treating women in the reboot' are wrong and it's a really hard thing for me not to argue with people about it
sorry i wasn't around last night
i was on my way home from a movie with a friend. it was raining, and i lost control of my car. managed to avoid all other vehicles, but i sure did show the wall of that underpass who was boss.
the wall. the wall is boss. stupid immobile asshole.
anyways, i hurt my wrist real bad, so i'm only one handed for a while. luckily that was ALL i hurt. cept my car, i totaled the damn car.
but i might not reply for a while. maybe short replies, because i cant go back to work until i go see my doctor. and i cant play video games cause i fucked up my trigger hand. so i have a lot of free time on my hands.
