You
When I ask myself what you are to me only one word seems to fit. The only thing you have been and the only thing you can be to me is poison. But when I say poison I don't mean like acid that can melt metal, that is harsh, and untouchable. When I say you are poison you are the nicotine in cigarette smoke, gentle and addicting yet when I breathe you in it burns. You're the adrenaline pumping through my veins while I run away from all that I am scared of, and I know that too much of it of you could stop my heart, but the only heart attack I'm worried about is from the pain of possibly losing you. You are heroin flooding my system with dopamine yet I'm blind to the fact that this happiness is just a facade for when you leave so does it. You are morphine, you take my pain when things get a little too rough for me to handle and I find myself wanting more of you, but the bad days seem to be getting harder and harder to handle without you here. Yet despite it all you make life better than it was before. Though I know like most complex chemical substances you come with side effects and leave damage in your wake but I'm okay with swallowing a little poison every day if that means I get to live a life with you because to me you are the only thing that makes life worth living. So I'll take this poison and down you like medicine because even though you'll melt my organs and turn my insides to mush at least my heart will be warm while it happens.
