Finally putting up an informational pinned post, at least until I make a really funny post to pin. This blog is a lot of things.

I try to tag spoilers, but never assume it's spoiler free here. Rule of thumb is that I tag spoilers for one week after the newest release of a show (including actual play) or a comic, and for one month for video games, novels, and films.

The following is a bit of a guide to the most relevant stuff you'll see right now. I'll be changing it up and updating as things come and go.

I liveblog Critical Role on Thursday nights. I generally tag with "#CR spoilers" or a more appropriate tag for other shows. I tag all CritRole thoughts with "#Critical Role things". I used to write meta more often in the past; you can find my meta under "#CR meta". I'm a Fjord fjan, and I stan the Star Razor as if it's its own character. Leave Fandom Wiki. Use Encyclopedia Exandria.

Listen to Midst! I use "#Midst Cosmos" as a catch-all tag. The podcast is tagged just "#Midst" with the other shows under their names, and ALL my personal Midst Cosmos posts go under "#Midst things". Unend spoilers are tagged "#Unend spoilers". I have Beacon, but I follow the public schedule, so do not send me spoilers from early access. Spahr is my favorite, and I'm very excited about where Merlin is heading.

I am nominally a fic writer. I have a billion WIPs but am notoriously bad at finishing them. Feel free to ask about them. My AO3 is located right here.

I can be sluggish to respond to asks due to a variety of factors, but don't be afraid to send me some, especially if you want to know my thoughts on a new development in a work I'm following. I think better when I'm answering a question or when working off a prompt.

There's an attitude I've been seeing more and more of where having any kind of artistic opinion that isn't praise is seen as some kind of faux pas designed to yuck people's yum or whatever, and while I understand the kneejerk response behind it I do have to wonder like. How sustainable do you think it is to foster an environment where even the most casual criticism is met with hoards of defensive with Whoa Mama Mia Cunt Let People Enjoy Things style comments

OK so yes feedback is necessary specifically in art but I have seen people just be full on mean or unnecessarily harsh. There's creative criticism and then there's just being a dick for the sake of it.

Okay. And I'm saying people are allowed to, when they want to, on their blogs, be a dick about things for the sake of it if they feel like doing it. I'm wildly skeptical of the idea that constructive critique is the only kind of feedback one is "allowed" to make in their own siloed corner of the internet, or that insistence on this will somehow create a healthier space for expressing opinions.

Once again. I can understand the kneejerk impulse here, I do. It sucks to imagine, say, a creator scrolling online coming across some needlessly vitriolic post about something they worked on. But anyone is allowed to go "That's dickish" and move on, or people can engage with "I think this is oversimplified blah blah" if they want to but at the end of the day it isn't some kind of crime against the hobby or a fandom or even a singular person if someone just shoots off "This sucked I wasted my night" in their own accounts.

Like. A lot of people are trending towards thinking I'm talking about the importance of constructive criticism and like, sure, I think that is probably a more interesting avenue of analyzing something's flaws, but once again if you're not like, addressing an artist or interested in doing a deep dive that doesn't mean you're Not Allowed to be flippant or quick to judge. It's kind of startling how many times I've seen someone be like, "I can't stand this album" on their blogs, untagged, had that shit shared, only for it to come across someone's feed and for them to respond with "Why? What's wrong with it? People are allowed to like it, why are you being so negative, why are you tearing people down for no reason, this isn't even real critique," as though the intention in the first place ever was or ought to have been substantive critique in the first place.

It's difficult to articulate my feelings on this, but I do increasingly feel that the insistence upon there being a correct form of disliking something that precludes the possibility of making anyone feel insecure or hurt because they like it is significantly more stultifying than an atmosphere where people can shoot off "Fuck this" and be blocked or ignored for it

so, the PDF for Daggerheart Hope & Fear is available now, and as always, I go directly to checking the credits to see if anything interesting is in there.

this is, unsurprisingly, the first Darrington Press work I know of that has Perkins credited as creative director instead of Travis. Travis has been credited as creative director since Candela Obscura, published in November 2023. Perkins was announced as the new creative director in June 2025. The two releases since, Solar Gardens and A Familiar Find, still list Travis as creative director, I assume because they were developed under his tenure before the transition happened. Travis has been of-sorts promoted to CEO of Darrington Press in Hope & Fear, matching his title at Critical Role Productions.

similarly, this is the first publication that does not credit Ivan Van Norman as Head of Darrington Press. he left the company, iirc, also in June 2025 and is now focusing on Hunters Entertainment, which he co-owns. (his statement said he was proud of his time at the press and is excited for new opportunities, that's all I know.)

so, works are now coming out developed under Perkins as creative director, and similarly with Crawford as game director, a role he originated at Darrington Press. (if you're wondering, Matt was previously creative advisor for the company, so Travis originated the role of creative director.)

there aren't any other bits that a general audience would find interesting. Madigan Hunt was promoted from junior games producer to games producer, and Dani Gage as developmental coordinator was moved from the Daggerheart team side of the page to the Darrington Press side. rest seems to be the same team.
