Instagram Story Task 2

From the shots taken, I decided to choose this particular image.

The image itself tells as story of an unknown place which is quite dull and abandoned. There was a particular day which was foggy, so I took the opportunity to test out how it could work as a narrative projected by my phone. This photograph taken is inspired by horror movies that I have watched particularly Silent Hill.

I wanted to give a sense of suspense, like as how it is unclear with the fog I wanted the viewer to feel a sense of what is to come? The unclear figure portrayed makes it even more spooky.

I removed colour from the picture, so to have of an even more horror effect to it. Compared to me previous one, I think I have done better, as it is visually is compelling and from feedback received the idea influenced from horror movies is evident.

ONCE UPON A TIME ...

Once upon a time there was a girl named Makoto Konno. Everyday, she attended high school, and played baseball with two of her closest friends; Chiaki Mamiya and Kousuke Tsuda. One day Makoto comes across a message written on a blackboard at her high school and she inadvertently falls upon an odd shaped object. On her way home, she travels with her bike although the breaks end up not working so Makoto ends up getting hit by a train. Because of that Makoto discovers the ability to teleport back in time, so she starts using her powers to avoid arriving late at school, getting perfect grades, avoid awkward situations etc.. Because of that Makoto realises that her ability to travel back in time comes with a prize, and noticed a numbered tattoo on her arm which indicates the limited number of times she can use her powers to go back in time, thus Makoto decides to make things right for everyone. Until finally, Chiaki Mamiya calls Makoto and asks if she can time leap, as Chiaki is actually from the future and the odd shaped device that Makoto initially encountered, was a device which permitted Chiaki to travel to time to find and secure a painting to his era. Chiaki leaves Makoto and tells her that he will be waiting for her in the future.

ONCE UPON A TIME ...

Once upon a time there was a girl named Arrietty. Everyday Arrietty would hope that she could become a borrower ( a borrower is someone who takes items from humans that they would not miss, for instance a cube of sugar). One day Arrietty’s dad decided to take her on her first borrowing mission. Because of that, Arrietty got caught by a human named Sho, during her first mission. Because of that, Her father Pod, with his wife Homily decide that they must move out, when suddenly Homily is taken as a hostage by Haru (the housemaid). Until finally, Arrietty along with Sho rescue her mother, and part farewell.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Anastasia. Everyday she would dream that she would be reunited to her family. One day she encountered Dimitri and his “partner in crime” Vladmir, where she teamed up with both individuals to go to Paris and find her family. Because of that, she encountered someone from the past, Rasputin, who had been trying to destroy the Romanov family. Until finally, she was reunited with her only family left, her grandma, The Dowager Empress Marie, and defeated Rasputin. .

Instagram Story Task 1

From the pictures I had taken with my phone, this one is the one I decided to choose.

The image presented is obviously edited as I chose a filter which automatically changes the atmosphere and mood of the object represented. I wanted to tell this story of this well which was used in the earlier times, and now left in ruins. This is represented by the texture of the well.

As we had to take it with our phones (and mine takes terrible photographs) I could not show as much detail as I wanted of the inside of the well (what was in the water). Water is occasionally associated with purity/ healthy, in this image it shows a different side of water which can be associated with danger, disease and everything negative etc.

In regards to response, the main concept was grasped immediately, as the focal point of this picture was this mysterious contaminated water, and in regards to the filter applied was received well.

As a shot, there is a lot to work on, When I look at it now, I saw there is no focal point, and not really much of a story to tell. Next time I want to capture at least 2 subjects which can create a story.
