There’s a pause before a soft. “oh.” But other than that she makes no protests and leads the way to the exit, wings folded in tight. “Then I’m very glad…. you’ve found me,” she tells him over her shoulder.

“Well, I wasn’t gonna blow the place up before checking for prisoners or civilians,” Bucky says, slightly offended. “I’m not a monster.”

Lehhuz waits a few long moments after her sister leaves and until she can no longer hear anyone rushing outside, grabbing her weapons on the way. She might be pregnant but she could still fight, especially against a human. They were just being overly precautious of her because she was a princess.

She doesn’t even have the slightest idea that this attack was because of her or for her sake. Personally she wanted to get away from this planet, the former prince of their planet could stay here for all she cared. 

What also doesn’t occur to her was the human had managed to sneak on board and that she’s heading his way

Hopefully, the bulk of the fighting force will be distracted by his own ship, allowing Bucky some time to sneak around inside theirs. After all, only an idiot would be trying something like this alone and they don’t know he’s an idiot. It would be reasonable to assume there’s more crew on the ship than just one angry man.

So far, it seems to be working and Bucky makes his way in the direction that seems most likely to be towards the control room. He turns a corner to spot one and draws his gun before registering the shape of her belly. “Are you pregnant?”

Do these aliens just abduct pregnant people?

She quickly grabs a few small items before following his instructions and rushing out the door. “Blasted? By what?” she asks as she runs out, looking around, debating if she should just run towards the exit or keep following him.

“The explosives I set to demolish the base.” Bucky gestures for her to go ahead of him. “I don’t play around.”

The comm response back at first mainly sounds like static. Angry static but static nonetheless. Then the words become clearer. First alien then in English. “Who are you? Prepare to be destroyed.”

The ship turns around to face his and begins to open fire.

Inside the ship sirens blare and all the Reidons, as the aliens were called, were rushing to battle station. The brightly colored seemingly horned beings put on their armor as it creeps around them and snaps into place. All except one, Lehhuz, who was arguing with her sister Trivac that she wanted to fight too.

“You’re in no place to be fighting, not in your condition and not after the strain of your mission.”

“It doesn’t matter! I can still fight if need be! I’ll be careful!”

“No. Think of your child. It’s best if you stay here, and besides they might not even get on board.”

Lehhuz huffs but sits back in her bed, folding purple arms across her torso and not looking at her blue-purple sister who sighs and shuts the door behind her as she leaves.

“I’m the guy whose wife you creeps abducted.” He dodges the incoming fire, though doesn’t return it. Instead, he circles the ship until he spots a place he can get inside and initiates a docking sequence.

Is this a good plan? No.

But it’s what he’s doing. He sets his ship to an automated sequence so he can get on a spacesuit. Not really caring if the shuttle gets destroyed; he’ll just take the Reidons’ ship back home.

Once outside the ship, he forces open one of the airlocks on the Reidons’ ship and crawls inside, ready to take the fight to them.

She thinks for a long moment, trying not to get distracted by her visions. Finally she makes a decision and looks back up at him. “No. I don’t.” Fifteen years was a long time to be gone but…. surely she’d figure out something to do?

“Alright, then.” He jerks his head to the door. “Come with me. The building’s gonna get blasted pretty soon so we should move quickly.”

She hops from foot to foot nervously. “Yes. And no. Seers say I’m their most important member. But then they just keep me in here. So yes and no.”

She backs up a little. “Don’t hurt me. I won’t say anything.”

"I’m not here to hurt you. I’m just here to stop them.” He glances behind him, then looks her over. “Do you want to stay here?”

Elva’s trying to struggle against the stunning effects of the collar but other than slight movement it seems to have no effect. She wants to tell him to back off entirely so he doesn’t get hurt, but she can’t and the only thing she can do is have a panicked look on her face.

The second alien wretches free and heads back to the other. The one holding onto her doesn’t move their gun until the other gets close to them. The one who had been with Bucky, dressed in yellow begins hitting some buttons and the three begin to glow.

“We’ve gotten what we came for.” The leader tells Bucky as Elva feels a sensation like fizzy bubbles run through all of her and then the house disappears from view.

“No!” Bucky makes a futile attempt to grab one of the aliens, but they’re already disappearing.

In desperation, he calls the Avengers for help, to get a direction to go in. But it’s not long before the Avengers are too slow for him. Going over data to find out which aliens these are, cautioning him about starting shit in space. Something about interstellar relations. Something about Bucky being too close to this one, like that means he should sit out.

Bucky slips out, saying he needs a moment, but instead goes to one of the small spacecraft. He doesn’t need to know much about space travel to fly one and soon enough, he’s on his way.

He catches up to the ship and hails them on comms. “Hey, assholes.”

Stupidly she brandishes her still wet paint brush as a weapon as if it could help her against anything, let alone a man with a gun. She blinks at him a few times after he speaks, her own surprise and in fact her own involvement in this very heated moment pushing away the encroaching visions around him. Another time. If she ever saw him again that was.

“I’m… Birdy…” she says slowly, nervously fluttering her wings and not looking him in the eyes. “You’re the thing that’s happening today. That explains a lot.” 

“I’m something alright.” Bucky furrows his brow, her cryptic words not doing much to put him at ease. He looks over her wings, then at the paintbrush.

“Are you a prisoner?”

Raphael shoots him a flat look before returning his attention to his drink. “You know what I meant, no need to be daft. Regardless, let me give you my number. We’ll discuss more of the details in a more secure location.” He hands Bucky a card with his information. “Now, I believe it would be rude to keep my date waiting too long.”

“Nobody says daft anymore.” Bucky rolls his eyes, but takes the card, flipping it over a couple of times. “Date?” He glances around briefly, eyes landing on Bobbi, then blinks. “No way.”

The alien behind him gets clipped in the shoulder and collapses. As the one holding her gets tackled, her arm is nearly yanked out of her socket before the alien releases her arm.

Dammit. If only she could get a clear shot, but it was hard with Bucky in the way. As her mind whirls for a solution she feels something click around her neck and her whole body goes stiff, and a blaster is pushed against her side.

A strange staticky and echoy voice comes over her shoulder. “Release my colleague or this one gets hurt.”

Elva struggles against the stiffness in her limbs, but to no avail and she just grunts in response.

Bucky’s grip on his knife tightens, but he pulls back a little. “Let go of my wife,” he growls. “If you hurt her, I’m gonna kill every single one of you fuckers. What the hell do you want?”

He’s still ready for a fight, seething, only barely standing down because they have Elva as a hostage.

The electricity doesn’t seem to do anything to the attacker more than just annoy them. Elva’s eyes widen and she yells, “Bucky!”

When he shows up she locks on him, shaking slightly as the attacker barely dodges the knife. “I have no idea!” Behind him Elva can see another figure. “Look out!” she calls, throwing another shock of lightning behind him, fighting more on the defensive than she normally would.

She feels a hand clamp down on her wrist and she tries to wrench free.

Bucky drops down to give her a clear shot at the alien behind him and quickly whips around to shoot at the attacker. No chance of accidentally hitting Elva if the shots are aimed away from her.

“Let her go!” He launches forward to tackle the one grabbing her wrist, ignoring the danger the aliens might pose to himself.

“There are so many interesting people and things to do. Cities are ever evolving in some way. Something new to explore.”

He nods in return, “exactly. Though I enjoy a nice quiet evening with a book every now and then, things get repetitive and I need stimulation.”

“No one wants to hear about your stimulation, old man,” Bucky laughs, a flicker of the boyish mischief he’d once possessed showing through.

There was something happening today, Birdy was sure of it. She’d see the after math of it in all her visions the leading up week with the few visitors she had had during it, and with all the times she had been given food. The Seers would be experiencing some sort of chaos they would be cleaning up for some time.

She wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but she knew it was going to happen. Perhaps they would actually tell her what had happened, even though she hadn’t warned them. A small rebellion, but she never told them everything. 

After staring out her window for a long moment she returns to her painting, swirling more blue into it. Only to be startled out of it a moment later as her door is knocked off it’s hinges, causing her to scream slightly in surprise and whirl around to see the invader.

It started out as a fairly routine mission, which should have clued Bucky into the fact that things were going to get weird. Things going smoothly was never the routine.

The Seers weren’t very well known to him, so he wasn’t entirely sure what to expect to find within their base. But they’d worked with the Red Room before, so he was clearing them out. That’s all he really needed to know.

...right?

A quick and professional infiltration, heading into one of the most central rooms, where something important is being held. And it’s not until he kicks down the door, gun drawn, that he realizes something needs to be amended to someone.

He stares at Birdy for a moment, lowering the muzzle of his gun. “Who the hell are you?”

General timeline:

Bucky and Elva met and fought together during WW2, then were separated as Bucky was believed to be dead. Reunited after his memories were restored. Married and trying to have a family now.

“Boo.” Bucky kisses her head, then lets her up. “Who thought a baby was a good idea again?”

“I’m pretty sure you were part of the decision process,” she teases, before heading back into the house. It’s as she’s exiting that she hears a strange noise. As the bathroom door opens she’s face to face with a strange figure in a space suit and oddly shaped helmet. It takes a moment to process what’s happening and in that moment they lunge for her and she screams, attempting to shock them.

The sounds from the bathroom get Bucky to his feet and he grabs the knife he keeps on his person before rushing into the house. "Elva!"

He barely registers that there's a fucking alien in the house before throwing the knife at the attacker, grabbing a gun and a second knife from their hiding place. "What the hell is that?"
