Kiragi takes in the scenery while on a boat.

(Kidquest AU: In a world without war, a group of kids just gained favor with the King of Nohr, Xander, and are being sent back to Hoshido with the rest of the kids that weren’t there before.)

The ice he had his eye on was starting to fade away into the distance again. He could content himself with just the water; it was such a different shade than he was used to. Faintly, he registered Midori’s arm brushing against his, and this time, it stayed there.

Her arm was flush with his, their hands dangling close together. His eyes glanced down to the point of contact. He could move a pinky and wrap it around hers, couldn’t he? It would feel nice.

Kiragi is so puppy coded and just picturing her yanking a branch off from a blossoming tree just to gift it to Midori (without realizing she got scratches from it) It’s her way to show affection even if she doesn’t quite understand what makes her heart pound. She just likes to be around her :,D

Kiragi is essentially the third lord here! This may not be a good thing for him.

He's pretty much how he always is- energetic and trying to take things in stride. Sometimes he is not exactly the most successful but he serves a pretty good role for that in the group.

The gang of kana, dwyer, and midori meet him in Castle Izumo, where Kiragi is with Hisame and talking to Izana about where his dad is because he was last spotted there. Nobody had connected the dots because nobody connects random hoshidan talking to Corrin with the Prince of Hoshido.

When both Dwyer party and Kiragi party get told that Izana doesnt know where their parents are, Dwyer is planning on asking for a better job that Jakob had, but Kiragi decides that he's going to look for his dad himself (much to Hisame's chagrin.) And with Kana also wanting to look for his mom, its essentially their party and dwyer and hisame have to deal with it.

With Midori being part of the party, Kiragi and Midori meeting up here means they get to bond extremely early! Theyre both archers and nature enthusiasts so they spend a lot of time hanging out when theyre not fighting and what not its great.

Kiragi is why they go to pick up Rhajat and when the Nohrian Gang attacks them he's rather adept with the bow and helps them out, which is appreciated. Then while running away from that, Kiragi spots an attack from his dad's bow and essentially also starts off that chase...

and after circling around and everything he loses his dad and has to take up the Fujin Yumi for when they go into Valla. Its a rough adjustment period, see heirs of fate. Midori is a big help for helping Kiragi get up about it and a huge emotional support. Because theyre dating. This was not commonly known until possibly the funniest moment which I have not decided on yet because the two of them are very chill about the relationship.

I will get to Midori now.

Midori is the first recruit by Dwyer and Kana due to being attacked by "bandits" that are after the two of them. She's an apothecary by trade, still learning a lot of tricks but able to help support her family- especially after the attack on the town! Mozu can't really farm that much when the town is destroyed, hmm?

But when the two tell that theyre going to Izana to talk about things she gasps and decides to hop onto the group and there she stays.

Kaze did often come to visit her and Mozu. But he wasn't really around a whole lot. There were often periods where he was gone, and then he was back and they got to have a fun time together. He encouraged her following her passions whenever he could, but... yeah, theres a reason he was initially a deadbeat before I just killed him teehee

So its been... a longer time than usual for Midori. So she's like... she doesnt think he's missing, just thinks hes out for a longer time than normal... so she sometimes... tries to look for him? Not actively! Just... scanning horizons and hoping he's just around on his way back. Kinda misses him. But he's just busy!

Kiragi and Midori bond over their nature thing and she has a few fun tricks with arrows that he can't really get a grasp on but its a fun time for both and its cute. And they date but in such a fashion where nobody can tell up until the moment like Midori kisses kiragi's forehead or something lmao

And shes there for Kiragi when his dad is revealed to be dead, which is great! He gets to mourn his dad being dead ever since dwyer got saved, things are all fine and dandy! Then they get to valla and thats when Midori sees Kaze for the first time again.

Because he's dead. And this also shatters her because... she didnt know he was dead. For how long? How long was she scanning the horizon for someone who was actually dead and a puppetted corpse? When did it happen? It takes a bit for her to be able to keep going.

When they put Kaze down, Kaze is able to tell her and everyone about how he died. Which i will keep secret for now heheeee. And Kiragi is the one helping encourage her to keep going like Midori was for him!!

And I'm sure her apothecary potions are helpful, especially when Dwyer and Mitama are wrung dry of their magic.
