5 Reasons Why You Should Use the Carbon Roller in Splatoon 2
Everyone knows the Carbon Roller was OP in Splatoon 1, but what about Splatoon 2? Sure, it’s still a fairly popular weapon, but it’s not nearly used as much as it is in the first game. So, why should you use this weapon in Splatoon 2?
1. It does just enough damage to splat someone.
The most notable trait of rollers is its ability to splat someone in one hit. This extends to the Carbon Roller, which does exactly 100 damage at maximum. That is exactly the amount health an inkling has. Cool, right? The vertical swing does even more damage, with a maximum of 120 damage.
2. It has the fastest kill-time in the game.
A trait it carries over from Splatoon 1, the Carbon Roller can splat someone in 11 frames, provided that you are using a ground flick. That’s less than a quarter of a second! With a weapon as fast as this, no one will ever see you coming.
3. It fills its special quickly.
The vanilla Carbon Roller fills its special gauge at a mere 160p, one of the lowest totals in the game. This means you can pop out Ink Storms pretty quickly. Its roll also covers quite a bit of area, so you’ll be able to unleash it in no time! On the other hand, the Carbon Roller Deco fills its special gauge at 190p. While it’s quite an increase, it’s still less than compared to other weapons. Fill it up, and unleash a frenzy of Auto Bombs down on your enemies. What’s even better? Special Charge Up can decrease the point value needed for your special, so you can unleash it more often.
4. It has quite a bit of range.
Provided you use its vertical swing, that is. While it cannot reach as far as other weapons, you could still make use out of it. The horizontal swing is about the same range as a Clash Blaster, and the vertical swing is about the same range as an Aerospray. It’s not terribly long, but it’s long enough that you could effectively hit some tricky weapons from a distance. Be wary, though, as you will lose damage the farther it goes.
5. It has fantastic kits.
If a little unconventional, both the Carbon Roller and Carbon Roller Deco have amazing kits that compliment it. The vanilla Carbon Roller comes with Auto Bombs and Ink Storm. The former is great as a distraction, allowing you to come in for the kill, while the latter forces people to move out of the area of effect, allowing you and your team to push through and get a chance to claim victory. On the other hand, the Carbon Roller Deco comes with Burst Bombs and Auto Bomb Launcher. The former is infamous for the “burst bomb combo”, which allows you to get kills even quicker. Other than that, it’s great for covering surfaces quickly, and you can splat people from afar when you least expect it. Its special, on the other hand, is good for covering large amounts of area, a weakness of rollers, and creating panic.
