back in January, my friend @bustedjaws on tumblr dot com came to me and told me i needed to make markiplier and ryan gosling gay, and then i did. in February, i posted it, and (to my knowledge) it is the first fanart made of bloodstar, now deemed by the fandom bloodymary AND IM HONORED TO HAVE CREATED THIS SHIP

all jokes aside, even if this ship wasn't nearly as big as it currently is, i would still be shipping it to this day. and as big of an ego i have about this, this fandom and community wouldn't be what it is without everybody that ships them. like yeah did i technically make them? probably, but it's not important to me that people know my contributions to the bloodymary fandom, it's important to me that people came together to ship these two.

so many people in the fandom either stumbled across this or thought of this on their own and then found that there was a community and fandom for all of this. because the community is so kind and happy about wanting these two doomed spacemen to be happy together.

and you know what? im happy markiplier knows. im happy that he's able to see the love that we have for his blorbo and ryan gosling's blorbo, and im not ashamed of that.

Imagine Grace defined his name as the elegance definition of grace and Rocky spends years thinking how fucking ironic this clumsy leaky space blobs name is.

Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.

And Rocky has to suddenly reconcile that the clumsy leaky blob that saved his life twice, that almost certainly doomed himself to come back for him, name is Mercy.

The beginning of BloodyMary

So I was in a call with my wonderful friend @ardustein, and at some point the question of Who and When did this ship start? So logically I tried to figure it out for the next hour or so. Here are my findings! (across many sites)

Frist Mention

So the first mention of Project Hail Mary and Iron Lung in the same place was on AO3 by an Anonymous user! Called full of stars. This was for the book Project Hail Mary, making them trailblazer of the ship!

Ship Name Start

The next was found on TikTok by @sagegreen280. Who sent in motion the now very widely accepted and used ship name BloodyMary!

So UPDATE! It was brought to my attention that @luckyboki was not the first person to bring these two together, but was in fact a combination of @carhorno and @bustedjaws it was under the pervious ship name BloodyStar! ( one I was not aware of...oops) @carhorno made art for the idea that @bustedjaws made. They also seem to be aware of the fact that it was their idea first. (at least on tumblr, it is very hard to cross refence.)
