If you are a college student don`t forget to look up local businesses that give discounts to the towns college kids. Most movie theaters, coffee shops, sports centers, and restaurant will offer some kind of discount for students. If you can`t find anything online make sure to ask around it might surprise you how much money you can save just by bringing your college id along. Also, don`t be afraid to ask for discounts at the stores you go to they might give you a discount just to be nice. college friends keep you sane

If you want to get through college you are going to need some good friends to do it! Make sure you make yourself get out there and find at least one friend. This needs to be someone other than your roommate because as much as you think you love your roommate it is harder to live with them if they are the only person you ever hang out with. Make sure you get someone who is good for you and enjoys the same things you do. If you are a partner it is good to get some who will be willing to go out but it is better to get someone who will balance you. If you find yourself always partying it can be good to make a friend who will make you study. This goes for people who are studying junkies too, do not be afraid to make a friend that takes you out of your good habits. This is supposed to be the best time of your life don`t spend all your time with your nose in a book! Balance is everything and will keep you sane.

planner

If you're in college you all know about the dreaded planner! People swear by them saying they will save your life and your college career, but this is only true if you remember to check them. I recommend setting alarms on your phone to remind you to check your planner and revise your planner at least once a week. I also recommend setting titled alarms on your phone for really important events you can not miss!

classes

If you have extra room in your class schedule and need a humanity credit I recommend that you take a Philosophy class. Philosophy will open your eyes and may even spark a new passion in your heart. I have already taken 3 semesters of Philosophy and nothing gets my brain going quite like those classes.

study smarter not harder

If you are doing online readings or taking a course online don`t forget to study smarter. If you are a chrome user you can easily download or enable the chrome text reader so you can speed read through your text when you are short on time or just feeling a little lazy. There are other extensions available for other software you just have to look.

Just Go!

If you ever get the chance to study abroad, DO IT! There is no amount of schooling that can teach you the things you will learn from traveling and experiencing things first hand.

What about my old life?

So you finally picked your college, Congrats! Now, don`t you worry about the little things they will all work out in the end! You might be stress about moving away from home and leaving your old life behind, but don`t worry because the truth is they will be there when you get back. I know when I chose to move out of state for college I was stress about what would happen to the people in my life. I was especially worried about the older members in my family as I panicked thinking about the possibility of them passing while I was gone. While this is a sad and scary thing to think about you can't let it keep you from living your life. Your family lived their lives now its time for you to live yours and if you miss them too much or something goes wrong just remember they are only a plane ride away.

DON`T STRESS

Picking a college is a pretty big deal but it is not something that should be stressful. It should be exciting and fun, this is the time all about you and what you want. People all around you are going to be talking about how important the decision is and how this is the beginning of the rest of your life. While that is partly true it really is not that big of a deal. Go with your gut and in the end if you pick the wrong place you can always transfer and try again a lot of people do it! So don`t stress just weigh your options and pick what school you like and don`t forget you can always change your mind later.
