She walks into starbucks and feels the stares. Her head dress gets heavy with judgment and fear that flow off the other customers in waves. She knows why, her religion now has a bad reputation because of the few bad seeds planted in the garden. She is Muslim and has never even injured a fly but can hear the whispers “Terrorist” and “isis”. Inside her head she is making this face and pose saying WTF(excuses the language it was needed) you dont even know me. I bring up this story up because it relates to the main character in “The Kind of Light that Shines on Texas”. One of the boys in the story acts like what everyone picture African Americans to act like in the 60’s. The main character is asked if that makes him ashamed to be colored and the main character responds no but really wanted to respond yes but only if you sum all blacks together and think they all share the same faults. They don't and they shouldn't be summed up together, it's similar to how all Muslims are viewed as terrorist but almost all are just Muslims practicing their religion. This is just like in the story we were reading how the main character was seen as bad just because of the few bad seeds. It's sad to say that our society is like that and may never changed.
